Goat Sperm - Voice in the Womb album cover

Today I have the pleasure of reviewing the debut EP of Ukrainian Blackened Death Metal trio GOAT SPERM. The members have chosen to remain anonymous and would rather us focus on the music rather than who is playing what. I definitely find that admirable. So lets jump on into the catacombs of that which is "Voice in the Womb".

The three track EP starts off with a bang with the song titled "Voice in the Womb". It instantaneously takes us into the depths of the void where no light touches. The vocals are amazing and guttural. They almost snatch your soul from your body the moment they begin, never to be released. The Guitars are perfectly written for such an angry and dreary song. They almost have a Doom feel to them. By the end we have an absolutely, wonderfully placed choir that brings a beautiful melancholy to end this six minute and fifteen second song.

The next song on the EP is a song called "Into the Deep Waters Of Catacombs". The three minute and forty nine second song is a beast in its own right. The Drums are immaculate as well as the perfected Vocals and Guitars. For this being their first EP this kicks ass. I would say the members have to had worked together before or are really close, to write something this great. There is an eerie whisper in this that sent chills down my spine. I absolutely love this so far! So lets get on with the last song shall we?!

"XXIV Elders" is sitting at eight minutes and eighteen minutes long! It begins with an awesome Bass line and then boom insert the Guitars. Just as dark and depressing as the catacombs it was written in. I don't know how to explain it but the song sounds murky. They almost remind me of the band HATE which is a huge compliment from me. The song seems to get darker and darker as it progresses. And as it comes to an end we hear what I guess are church bells ringing. I highly recommend this band and cannot wait to hear more from them in the future.
