The Delirium Of Negation

Death Metal has often been a somewhat weird sub-genre in the Indian Metal scene. I say this because there have been plenty of bands that have come up in the recent past of the genre, but have often failed to put out material on a consistent basis the way that Western bands do. So here we have India's Mumbai based Death Metal quartet WIRED ANXIETY releasing their 2nd EP "The Delirium Of Negation" this July 1st, and honestly, this one has actually surprised me.
The EP begins with the very powerful "Focus 22". The song is full of groovy Death Metal riffs, as well as fast paced drumbeats and vocals. The vocals are quite unique, especially with the guttural growling that is applied here. The song seems to rotate around one single structure that is repeated for the song's 4-minute length, and it actually works quite well.
The heavy, thick, groovy fast paced sound continues in "Heavily Sedated", but here the guitar is used in a much more intelligent manner as there are a few solos sprinkled here and there. The growling vocals of Dheeraj Govindraju are very infectious and can be said to be one of the key factors for why this record may go on to be received positively by fans of Metal in general.
"Severe Comorbidity" is much more mental than I could've expected from this band, and the listener is subjected to more chaos and more brutality in the plummeting of blast beats, groovy Death Metal riffs and growling vocals. The EP ends with "Test Subject Human", which drifts towards less chaotic and more crowd friendly riffs, along with some cheesy backing vocals.
"The Delirium Of Negation" plummets through the listener's ears and the songs have the potential to be crowd favourites during the band's live shows. There is a lot of LAMB OF GOD and old school Death Metal influence that can be felt here, and I say that in a positive sense. I haven't listened to the band's 1st EP, which was released back in 2012, and now I might check that out because this EP truly has something new to offer to the listeners, even with its familiar sound and other minor faults.
