GLACIATION are a French Black Metal band with very aggressive vocals and have a talented musicianship, very atmospheric background with an eerie sense of drama. The one thing I can't really talk about is the vocals because all I can understand is English and this doesn't have that. Same with the track listings. But they are extreme, aggressive and brutal for this type of music, perfect.
The music is very calming in places and pretty enjoyable for Metal Heads who are looking for something different and calming, I might be an insane Thrasher but even myself needs some calming atmosphere every now and then.
Upon the Marble Cliffs (the English title for the album) is a 6 song album that could be mistaken for an EP but most Black Metal / Doom Metal have songs that last 5-10 minutes or more, the longest song is over 10 minutes. The vibe this album delivers is atmospheric Doom, Gothic, Pounding, Heavy and... Calming. Yup, calming too is in the mix. The keyboards added give that extra feel of atmosphere, give it a chance and you will be listening to an epic Black Metal record.
Having seen ALCEST live before I was surprised to see that Neige makes an appearance in this album, I'm not the biggest Black Metal fanatic and my knowledge of it isn't great but I am aware of some bands I enjoy, but if you are into bands like NAGLFAR or TSJUDER (I am highly into them) this is definitely for you.
I can't say too much else because the vocals are in French and I have no skill of that language but I was still happy to review this album. In conclusion Metal fans alike should give this album a go. I'm sure you won't regret it. And besides, if you like RAMMSTEIN then you have no excuse to pass this up really.
