DAMNATOR is a Black/Thrash Metal band from Helsinki, Finland. Just having formed very recently in October of 2013, the most recent release of EP "Key To Hades" was released independently in December of 2014.

DAMNATOR produces music that is definitely a dark, heavy Black Metal release, and the music matches the morbid tunes about rotting flesh and hell quiet nicely in singles like "Invoking The Flesh" and "Key Of Hades". The vocals of Riku Makinen are dark, heavy, growling, wailing sounds that match the "Black Metal" sound DAMNATOR seek to produce. Jonni Karlsson's guitar riffs go along well melting faces as Leevi Lintumaki's thrumming bass provides a deep, guttural background to the entire sound of DAMNATOR. Finally, the drumming of Mikko Sallinen is not to be underrated as his skull-crunching beat drives the band further forward in their dark, heavy sound.

Opening track "Ceremonial Stab Wounds" is another morbid track talking about people covered in blood as they scream in complete terror and horror as they know they are going to die. The third track on the EP "The Nocturnal Spawn" talks about a child of the night that was spawned from some terrible evil in the world. These singles fit into the dark, morbid topics of DAMNATOR well. This rounds out a great, dark, heavy release with the rest of the tracks on the EP.

DAMNATOR's latest release "Key To Hades" is a great heavy, dark release with crunching riffs and driving drumbeats, along with screaming, guttural, wailing vocals. It flows together well to create a classic Black Metal release. However, with only 4 tracks, half of which last less then 3:00 minutes, the EP seems short, too short. The listener is left wanting a lot more of what they heard in those few tracks. Hopefully at some point DAMNATOR will put this out as a full-length release with a lot more songs to add to it.
