Once upon a time, in a magical land called Europe, Power Metal was born. Inspirationally summoned into being by the almighty godfather Dio and carried on by the legends BLIND GUARDIAN and HAMMERFALL among others, Power Metal became a distinct giant in the world of Metal music. But alas, for Power Metal to continue its legacy of soaring operatic vocals, ambient melodic keyboard, and heaven-sent guitar riffs, a new generation must rise to inherit their place among the legends. With the release of their debut album "Legends", will DRAGONY, the six man symphonic band from Austria, be worthy to realize their destiny among the Metal gods? Read on, my Metal minions!
All Gandalf-esque monologues aside, DRAGONY's debut album really delivers a powerful piece that reflects the same majestic spirits of EPICA, KAMELOT,and RHAPSODY OF FIRE,one of my all-time favorite symphonic metal bands. "Burning Skies", my favorite track, is definitely a kick-ass way to debut the band, and to further inflate your interest, gifted vocalist Siegfried Samer is joined by Ralf Scheepers of PRIMAL FEAR.I'm convinced that Scheepers loves this band so much, he'll put all their names in "The Book of Heavy Metal". "Land of Broken Dreams" and "Wings of Night" radiantly showcase the brilliant duet abilities of guitarists Andreas Poppernitsch and Daniel Stockinger. "The Longest Night" was my next favorite track for its stunning ability to captivate the listener from passages of serenading opera to furious storms of guitar riffs and blasting drum beats.
Strap on your chainmail suits and train your dragons! DRAGONY is ready to take you on a melodic voyage that you will not soon forget. With more exposure, I believe that this band will in fact be deemed worthy to stand amongst the legendary men of the Power Metal scene.
