Dizziness - Evocation Of Ancestral Grandeur album cover

Listening to this demo release, I was looking again and again the calendar to convince myself that we are in year 2010 and not in the late 80s! Not much to say about DIZZINESS, since their bio is not more than 3 lines. The only three things that are worthwhile mentioning is that they were formed in 2008 as a trio, with Tantalos behind the microphone (he left the band a few months later). They recorded their first demo "Evocation of Ancestral Grandeur" in 2009 and now it is released in only300 copies on tape! Yes you read right: On tape!

The name of the band will not make you understand - in the first place - that they are playing old school Black Metal. It is like listening to something from the ROTTING CHRIST demos era, but not of the same quality, if I may say something like that since back then they were the pioneers of the Greek Black Metal stage and DIZZINESS recorded this demo 20 years after them. The three tracks made me feel again like a 15-year-old boy with my long hair growing back again and I'm sure that I will listen to this demo again in the near future. Highlights of these three songs are the bridge in "Polemos (The Awakening Of Tchor!)", the main riff in "Mysticism Of Universe" and the smell of the past that the atmosphere of "...As the Centuries Fall" brings to mind, even if most of us wrote riffs like that when we were teenangers in our bands.

"Evocation of Ancestral Grandeur" is a demo that will bring memories to us, the older ones, and show to the younger ones how the underground Black Metal scene was back then, with all those great bands. The only thing that I really hated in these three songs is the fadeout. Especially in the first track you get the feeling that they have chopped the track in the middle...
