Sullvation – The Beginning of the End
May 10, 2024
My hometown of Chicago is known for many amazing worldly contributions including pizza, Italian beef, diverse culture, world class architectural and yes, our sports teams, and also has a huge history of influential music with blues, opera, jazz and rock, so with their debut release “The Beginning of the End” one of our very own SULLUVATION will try and continue that tradition.

Fargo - The Early Years (1979 - 1982)
May 9, 2024
A good release for older fans that want to complete their collections, and to the younger ones to know the band's Hard Rock/Rock 'n' Roll roots.

Deadpeach - The Cosmic Haze and the Human Race
May 9, 2024
A fine sample how to be creative into Space Rock, Acid Rock and Psychedelic Rock is shown by this Italian quartet.

King Zebra – Between the Shadows
May 5, 2024
The country of Switzerland is famous for chocolate, skiing, watch making and zebra’s….ok, not zebras, so let’s see if KING ZEBRA can add that to the list with their latest hard rocking release “Between The Shadows”.
review
Darkestrah – Nomad
May 1, 2024
This was a solid album. Black Metal elements blend smoothly with Doom elements until as a listener, you aren’t sure how to feel. On one hand, blinding rage, and on the other, utter despair. It is these types of feelings that the album imparts.

review
Sykofant – Syhofant
April 20, 2024
One of the tenants of Progressive music is that it expands existing stylistic boundaries associated with specific genres of music. This album definitely fits that definition. It borders on pretentious at times, but what saves it is the band’s obvious affinity for expressing themselves openly. A couple of the songs are unnecessarily long, and there is a lot to unwind, but there is a lot to like here on the quartet’s debut album.

review
Lhaäd – Beneath
April 17, 2024
Like the deep blue tones in the album cover, and the mysterious creatures that swim in the depths, the serene cover is not what it seems. This is deeply disturbing in every good meaning of that phrase. This album paints a dismal and barren landscape of eternal suffering.

PsychoWard - Committed
April 17, 2024
Mixing US Metal, Glam metal and Hard Rock elements, this quartet is about to melt Erath's crust!
review
Jack Brain – Designing Chaos
April 17, 2024
This type of music can be done one of two ways in my opinion. The first way is to go all in on the dissonance…embrace it, push it, and let it fill your ears with the sweet sounds of dismay. The second way, and that it what we have here, is to guise the dissonance by trying to push vocal melodies, but when that fails, what we have left is an awful sound.

Deully – This Is It
April 16, 2024
A young boy grows up in Canada and turns his passion to music instead of hockey, and with that passion strives to deliver a unique and eccentric sound drawing inspiration from a personal journey of self-discovery.

Final Strike – Finding Pieces
April 9, 2024
FINAL STRIKE has all the makings of a kick-ass rocking band with a powerful vocalist, a stellar guitar player and infectious harmonies, so let’s see how it all blends together.
review
Mourning Dawn – The Foam of Despair
April 9, 2024
Overall, this was an excellent album. Threads of pain, torture, failure, and abandonment came through strongest for me, and the music was wonderfully depressing but keen with torment.
review
Dipygus - Dipygus
April 9, 2024
Filler aside, the rest of the album is rock solid. For those who like their death metal a little weird and off the beaten path, one could do worse than the self-titled.

Heavy Temple – Garden of Heathens
April 8, 2024
It has been almost three years since we had some HEAVY TEMPLE at the Metal Temple. On April 12, 2024 all that changes when High Priestess Nighthawk releases “Garden of Heathens.”

Adon – Adon
April 4, 2024
It’s nearly impossible not to become immersed in this album, because the sound surrounds you, circles you like prey, and then closes its jaws. You don’t dare even close your eyes, because if you do, you won’t recognize the person you see in the mirror. Their prowess and musicianship is impeccable.

All Are To Return – III
April 1, 2024
Take a look at the album cover to find out what lies within…death, nothingness, void, antimatter, extermination, extinction. This is one extreme way to view global warning and the hand-in-hand catastrophes. Are we too late? I don’t know if there is any discernable way to know for sure. But if we are, this album will play at our funerals.

Exist – Hijacking The Zeitgeist
March 29, 2024
No one can deny the band’s talent, that much I know for sure, but their technical prowess does overshadow some of the melody development. They take their music in all different directions, even to places you wouldn’t expect, and that is the mark of Progressive Metal. They are as tight as they come, but some might argue that they flirt with pretentiousness, as well as that proverbial zenith that isn’t usually reached.

Cemetery of Scream – Oceans
February 19, 2024
Electronics in Goth music? Catchy, exciting songs? Why not? I have always said that when you give a band 14 years between album releases, you are going to get one of two things: A band who stayed the same and let the years pass them, or a band who is busy pioneering their own path and is cognizant of the genre changes. Oddly, in this case, the band shows a remarkable ability to stay true to their roots while shifting just enough to keep fresh and intriguing.
