review
Wormhole – Almost Human
November 23, 2023
The songs are very short, because they are jam packed with material so dense, they would seem unbreakable. The gutturals are deep, their Death Metal sound is rich, and they toy with meter changes like a genius assigned a menial task.
review
Kalmo – Dominus Meus
November 23, 2023
I found the album to be a spiraling trip to the dark corners of your mind, where cobwebs grow, and areas that you haven’t visited in some time but keep locked away. In these dark corners, you can hear footsteps approaching, but they never reach their destination. The album has potential, if the artist can season the songs with a little more flavor.

Seventh Wonder - Mercy Falls (Reissue)
November 22, 2023
As for the Progressive Rock element, they are there, and I have to say, all used at exactly the right time in the proper way. All these elements put together have made this one heck of an impressive album.
review
Prong - State Of Emergency
November 22, 2023
After listening to “State Of Emergency” a number of times one thing has become clear; this album is a lot better than I gave it credit when I started listening. To me this even rivals classics like “Cleansing” and “Rude Awakening”. And that, my friends is quite telling.

review
Archangel - Total Dark Sublime
November 22, 2023
Their music is a mix of Traditional Heavy Metal with Punk and Horror elements, with some Glam Metal influences thrown in for good measure. They are trying their hardest to sound as Underground as possible, but are not being helped by a crisp, clear and outstanding sound and production. That makes listening to ARCHANGEL a lot less obscure and “Total Dark Sublime” a lot less scary.

review
Stone of Duna – Moonsplitter
November 22, 2023
Primarily Stoner Metal seasoned with Doom, Progressive, and Sludge elements, the best part of the album is probably the vocal harmonies. I am glad that there were no Harsh vocals, because it wouldn’t have worked with the music. The Production was also well done, and allowed the massive fuzzy sound to come through strong.

review
Welcome to Pleshiwar – Apostasy
November 22, 2023
Although at its core, it was total gloom, the moving bass guitar and flickers of melody will keep the listener interested along the way. I would love to hear more from the band in the future.
review
Midnight Odyssey - Biolume Part 3 - A Fullmoon Madness
November 22, 2023
Overall, this was a good album, but very long, and so in that length the artist runs the risk of having too many songs that sounds similar. It was fairly diverse however, and the spacey elements kept it interesting.
review
Beyond Grace – Welcome to the New Dark Ages, Part 1
November 22, 2023
They incorporate a lot of different sounds into their music. Their dexterous skills are high, and I would call this a new breed of Death Metal for the decade and beyond. The sky is the limit for this band.
review
Phantom Winter – Her Cold Materials
November 22, 2023
The songs are written with care and passion and the emotional peaks are noteworthy. Perhaps the best part if the way that the band is able to maintain a high level of tension from hardened passages to more ethereal ones…it make the desperation feel even worse.
review
Profanatica – Crux Simplex
November 22, 2023
The heavy bass sound is probably the best part of the album, but who needs another FWOBM band that is afraid to deviate from the norms that began the genre many years ago. Overall, nothing special.
review
Insomnium – Songs of the Dusk
November 22, 2023
I still feel that the band is playing it too safe with this EP and their full-length before it. At this point in their career, fans are too used to what to expect from the band.
review
Dreamwell – In My Saddest Dreams, I Am Beside You
November 21, 2023
I felt the core of the album deeply, which is the struggle with an illness that you can’t see. Although I love a happy ending, it wouldn’t have made sense here. Mental illness is one of the darker sides of life, and telling the story must have been cathartic for the band.
review
Swords of Dis – Melencolia
November 21, 2023
First, there is horror and torture, next there is nothing left of the band’s soul. The album takes you on a journey through your worst nightmares, and leaves you feeling numb at the end.
