Requiem for Eirênê
Isenordal
This album was quite moving, and I found it to be cohesive, even though many of the elements were competing with one another. I also found it shrouded in mystery, and deeper meanings with each new listen. This is one that the listeners will remember, as it etched into their very memories.
The Point of No Return
Northern Genocide
Overall, and I know I’ve talked about this a good deal, it’s the balance that is key to the album’s success. It was energetic, catchy, and even emotional at times, offering a fresh take on the genre.

The Caliginous Serenade
Acerus
A fine and good US Metal band with a charming Metal attack.
Defiance
Hypoxia
A very good traditional North American Death Metal release. Blow your ears with it!
Future to Come
Furor Gallico
Wow, these Italians created an amazing Folk Metal release!
The Early Years (1979 - 1982)
Fargo
A good release for older fans that want to complete their collections, and to the younger ones to know the band's Hard Rock/Rock 'n' Roll roots.
The Cosmic Haze and the Human Race
Deadpeach
A fine sample how to be creative into Space Rock, Acid Rock and Psychedelic Rock is shown by this Italian quartet.
Serpent’s Kiss
Cobrakill
Wow, this Glam Metal album really can bring a bloom of what the first half of the 80s Glam Metal was up to.

Dream Chaser
Rendezvous Point
This album effortlessly melds together the finest elements of progressive music, creating a seamless tapestry of sound that captivates listeners. From intricate rhythms to complex melodies, each track showcases the depth and innovation that define the genre, pushing boundaries and challenging conventions with every note. It's a testament to the power of music to inspire, provoke, and move us in ways we never thought possible.
Immerse
Acathexis
Overall, the sentiment of the album was loud and clear: torture. The torment and suffering is so severe that you would not wish it on your worst enemy.
Som et vondt år
Svart Lotus
This was a fine album. The band smartly combined a few different subgenres of metal into the album to keep the sounding fresh and unlike their peers. I believe it will appeal to a wide audience in this respect.
Escaping the Illusion
Star.Gate
Keyboards are an integral part of the album, and the production is crisp and clear as well. Their talent level is as high as I have heard this year also. It was a good album, and the emotional quality was high throughout it. A few of the songs ran together a bit for me with a too similar sound however.
Theories of Emptiness
Evergrey
This album weaves together disparate emotions and themes into a compelling narrative. Melodies soar and dip, carrying listeners on a journey through a landscape of shifting moods. At times, the music is imbued with a sense of mystery, evoking a feeling of intrigue and curiosity that keeps listeners eager to uncover its secrets. Yet, woven into the fabric of each song is a subtle undercurrent of melancholy, a poignant reminder of the bittersweet beauty of life's fleeting moments. This has "album of the year" written all over it.
The London Conspiracy Chapter I 1898
Metro Society
The album began just a bit rocky for me, but throughout the songs, the music grew on me, and it seemed like they hit their stride at just the right time. They tell the tale with enthusiasm, energy, and spirit.
Sentry
Sentry
New album from members of Manilla road.
Sermons of the Black Flame
Halphas
With “Sermons of the Black Flame,” HALPHAS sets their banner firmly in the corpse of their enemy and unfurls their profane Black Metal standard. Behold and bask.
The Final Level of Consciousness
Compress
From the disturbingly serene cover art to the supreme production values to the inhuman songwriting and execution, “The Final Level of Consciousness” is simply a remarkable album.
A Mortal Binding
My Dying Bride
It would be safe to say that the album was a disappointment for me. They didn’t offer anything new to the genre, which, in and of itself, isn’t anything necessary. But if you don’t, the music had better be that good. They played their sound too safe here.

Altar Of Disgust
Crawl
All in all, this is a hugely urgent album that does a lot in a small amount of time—every second drips with absolute venom. If you like death metal or any music with a lot of energy and an attitude that is 100% against the grain, CRAWL’s “Altar Of Disgust” is the album you need.
Kaosmogonia
Hypersonic
“Kaosmogonia” is an album with many faces where traditional Power Metal meets symphonic Metal with symphonic Death Metal twists
Ultra Violence
Wolves Of Perdition
WOLVES OF PERDITON’s “Ultra Violence” is a nice surprise for this humble reviewer. As it happens, I’ve been reviewing more doom and death than black metal this year but this one is an standout for the genre so far this year as far as I’m concerned.
Blood On Canvas
Darkness
"Blood On Canvas” is an album for old-school Thrashers who love crushing guitar riffs and cool lead guitar solos
Between the Shadows
King Zebra
The country of Switzerland is famous for chocolate, skiing, watch making and zebra’s….ok, not zebras, so let’s see if KING ZEBRA can add that to the list with their latest hard rocking release “Between The Shadows”.
Odvan
Tomorrow’s Rain
One thing I have to give the band credit for is the use of bass guitar and other instruments in many of the melodies. Their use of these elements creates a landscape of gloom. The album is a wonderful tale of love lost, regrets, death, and other things that remind you of the fragility of life.
Land Of The Rising Sun- Part 1
Metal De Facto
Melodic Metal from Finland de facto.
Bound by Spells
StarGazer
The most pronounced element on the album for me is an overwhelming sense of surprise. I hate to use the old cliché, but you do never know what is coming next. They have a sound that is all their own, and it is marked by character, musicianship, and is unfettered by traditional genre boundaries.
For Those Who Breathe From Darkness
Oathswan
This was a promising effort from the debut EP. I think if there were a few more songs, the band could have really explored their sense of style more. They have the talent and the drive to become whatever they want in the genre today.
The Chase
Nate Silva
My sole complaint with the album is that it was too short! I could have used a few more songs to ride out this early summer day vibe. The music was very pleasing and easy to listen to. Sometimes, you don’t want or have to overthink good music.
Convergence
Fractal Generator
Overall, this album was put together carefully and considerately. It’s highly technical, but it also breathes. Any fan of Tech Death will surely find a lot to love on this album.
Cineasta
Cineasta
A fine and surprising release from this side project of SCAR FOR LIFE's mastermind!

The Haunting of Silvåkra Mill - Rites of Passage
Malsten
The lengthy songs hit hard, and there are just enough of them. Any more, and they would overstay their welcome. The album has just the right balance between an immense weight, and subtle tension that can rise up and surprise the listener.
