Dream Chaser

Rendezvous Point

This album effortlessly melds together the finest elements of progressive music, creating a seamless tapestry of sound that captivates listeners. From intricate rhythms to complex melodies, each track showcases the depth and innovation that define the genre, pushing boundaries and challenging conventions with every note. It's a testament to the power of music to inspire, provoke, and move us in ways we never thought possible.

From their EPK, “Dream Chaser” delves deep into the realm of artistic exploration, focusing on the relentless pursuit of perfection. "Artists often strive a whole lifetime searching for something abstract, a feeling of perfection in what you do or create. Since it’s an abstract and subjective thing, the artists search for perfection often results in a lifetime of always wanting more, better, bigger and deeper. This leads to chasing something unclear and un-touchable, like a dream. It seems real and reachable, but never is," comment the band. With themes ranging from societal disillusionment to personal growth, the album is offering a compelling glimpse into the human experience. RENDEZVOUS POINT invite listeners to join them on their journey exploring the complexities of modern existence and the depths of emotional turmoil.

“Don’t Look Up” is first, and it has a dark combination of guitars and electronica. The pace is smooth and full of great hooks. Under it all, there lingers a shadow covering the song like a sickness. “Oslo Syndrome” has heavier structures in the instruments and some very emotive vocals. Once again, the hooks are generous and melody flows freely. “Utopia” means “an ideal commonwealth whose inhabitants exist under seemingly perfect conditions,” and the subtle melodies in this song reflect that word quite well. I love the dusky electronics that lay stable underneath the beat. “Fireflies” has a smooth ride over flat roads at first, but follows up with tense and mysterious tones. The transitions are seamless in that as a listener is just sneaks up on you so inconspicuously.

“Presence” might be my favorite track on the album. It has a great combination of aggressiveness and emotionally heavy elements, all wrapped up with a foreboding bow. “Wildflower,” by contrast, has some playful tones. But like sharing the sandbox with an older kid, you do need to keep vigil. The ebb and flow here is amazing, as it swells and recedes so effortlessly.   “The Tormented” has sharper angles and riffs, and the vocals are done with a demonstrative edge. It’s probably the heaviest song on the album, although deep emotional sounds emanate from within. “Still Water” is the closer, and my, what delicate and gorgeous sounds come your way. Geirmund’s vocals are so expressive here, and the sentiment is bold and resolute. Following the half-way mark, the song crescendos with a flurry of symphonic elements before it returns you to back to your home with a smile and a kiss.

It’s been a number of years since their last album, and you can hear the growth in their music.
