Dead Decades
Impure Wilhelmina
Talk about a band that is hard to pigeon hole…and this is one for sure. At its core, it is a tale of competing sounds, and the band never fully lets either side win.
To Kill is Human (Reissue)
Drawn And Quartered
The first assault from this legendary North American Death Metal cult band.
Extermination Revelry (Reissue)
Drawn And Quartered
A Death Metal reissue that justifies the reasons for it coming to light again.
Implore Pela Morte
Crânio Maldito
Old School Death Metal in a refreshed vision of this Brazilian band.
Bloodties
Blacksheep
Wow, this album is so good that's worthy of waiting 9 years for this new Death'n'Roll bombing!
Oblivion
Antumbra
A fine compilation of material from this eerie Atmospheric Black Metal act...
Radikal Rats
Essence of Datum
Playful tones are augmented with darker ones, keeping the listener ever guessing. The one thing I wish the album had more of, however, is dynamism. Like I mentioned before, some more swells in the music would contribute greatly to that.
Despite the Rise of the Sun
Solemn Vision
The album is too unilateral for me. I understand that most fans of the genre are indiscriminate, but as a reviewer, it is my job to look out for albums that elevate the genre.
Transience
Permutation
The musicianship is excellent, and there is just enough diversity to keep the listener engaged, but to the ardent Black Metal fan, this will fulfill your beastly desires.
Never Enough
Dwaal
Their brand of Doom sinks deep inside the listener, and crushes their soul from the inside out. Play it front to back, and let it consume you.
Garden of Stillborn Idols
Dyssebeia
The album was sterile, as Tech Death can be, but the band also used a good deal of melody interwoven into the complexities, which is pretty unusual. Besides their obvious talent on their instruments, they are also quite adept at their compositional craft.
Afterlife
Angel Rising
Without being too critical, the album suffered from a lack of interesting riffs, energy, and really everything else that would make it stand out.
Sunholy
Shade Empire
I have heard a lot of Symphonic/Melodic Death/Black Metal over the years, but not with this much energy and enthusiasm. It’s all about the balance between the competing sounds, and the band has found that perfect formula.
Oceans Above
The Color of Rain
The feeling of torture is so intense at times that you just want to scream to the sky in solitude over and over again, or crawl into a hole and give up on life. Warning…this dreadfully depressing album is not for the weak at heart.
Psychoverse
Ural
Old School Crossover/Thrash Metal mixed with modern elements is a possibility, as whown on this album.
Blasphemica - Absolution Carved from Flesh
Shadowspawn
If courage is needed to break rules and find your own way, these Danish maniacs music shows no fear and no mercy!
Paria
Verderbnis
If you're looking for a definitive album into German Black Metal scene, take a listening to this one.
Hollow World
Orbiter
To mix Stoner Metal and Alternative/Grunge Rock elements is the alchemy used by the quartet to summon good music on their first album.
Reconnected
Hurricane
To reconnect its glorious past with an unceratin present, Hurricane comes with a release that shows it's possible.
Spiritual Exodus
Exorcizphobia
If You think that the formula used by San Francisco's Bay Area Thrash Metal act is emptied, Exorcizphobia shows a different opinion...
From Roving About the Earth
Caged
Can Old School Death Metal allow the use of effects and turnables? Caged's answer is yes!
Reach
Rising Wings
The mix between influences of AOR and Glam Metal from the 80s gains life on the band's new album.
Spiritus Sylvestris
Iskandr
This Dutch band is able to make an unusual mix of influences of subgenres of Black Metal.
Roadkill
Omega Sun
A fine new way for Stoner Metal/Rock with a touch of Alternative Rocn can be found on this band's music.
Newman
Living the FIRE
The band offers to the fans a different mix between influences of many Metal genres.
The Crisis as Condition
Terminalist
A new form of mixing Thrash Metal with Death/Thrash Metal is what is offered by TERMINALIST.
Cradle of the Wicked
Ignited
Brazilian band that moved to Sweden comes with its second album
Metamorphosis
Ecocide
A Dutch new band comes storming with an Old School Death Metal in the vein of DEATH and PESTILENCE.
Impii Hora
Asinhell
An international project with names associated with VOLBEAT, MORGOTH, DISCREATION, INSIDIOUS DISEASE and others unleashing Old School Death Metal.
From Blood
Monastery
This release is where Old School Death Metal meets some good and modern 'updates'...
Disintegration
Hegeroth
The new album of this band proves that Poland isn't only a country do Death/Black Metal.
Anthropogenic Ruin
Bacterial Husk
A mix between Death Metal and Grindcore that combines the past and the future.
In Fieri
Slave Steel
“In Fieri” is an impressive sophomore album from SLAVE STEEL.
God Bless
The Arson Project
THE ARSON PROJECT vomits out Grindcore at the approximate velocity that Regan spat out green peas in The Exorcist.
Grotesque Macabre (Reissue)
Carnal Savagery
CARNAL SAVAGERY's first album, “Grotesque Macabre,” has been woefully hard to obtain. Moribund Records is changing that.
Return of the Black Death (reissue)
Drawn and Quartered
Altogether “Return of the Black Death” holds up remarkably well, sounding as brutal and relevant today as it was almost 20 years ago.
