Mirela Kaneva
Deadscape
DEADSCAPE
are a melodic Death Metal band from
Sofia
,
Bulgaria
. Being formed in 2015, the band released recently their debut album "
Of The Deepest Shade
" which smartly combines different layers within the melodic Death Metal framework to a diverse mix in rhythm, melodies, and atmosphere.
Metal Temple
writer
Thomas Kumke
had the opportunity to talk to vocalist
Mirela Kaneva
about the band history, her development to a Death Metal vocalist, the new album, and Metal in
Bulgaria
Johannes Huemer
Venator
A way of life that might exist anymore, yet maybe it is slowly making a comeback, but in better conditions, perhaps technological related. The spirit of the 80s might be breathing through newer bands, and albums, but the meaning of a Metalhead's life, or kick back to the past of the Rock N' Roller, will probably remain as past. It has to be considered what is more important, the life, or the music, or maybe both of them has to be together side by side. Thankfully, it is up for the fan to decide upon that issue. The newcomer Austrian Heavy Metal band, Venator, explore the old way of life with their debut album, "Echoes from the Gutter", where the underground lives. Steinmetal took that trip with the band's vocalist, Johannes Huemer, to understand more.
Reno Meier
Sin Starlett
Metal music has been inspirational not only because of its effect as a type of music that can be robust, of course heavy, but it is also a life savoir. Yes, it was proven by many people telling that it made something in them that kept them sane, alive, motivated. The values of Heavy Metal can be interpreted by many, but they all cross the freedom of choice. There are those, including at present, that feel that the old way is slipping away, it has been slowly shadowed by something else, more marketable and trendier. The Swiss Sin Starlett come against that is currently rad and cool, taking that past into the future, and their new album "Solid Source Of Steel" says just that. Steinmetal had a good talk with the band's Reno Meier about the core of Metal, and how does it feel over the album
Anders Sköld
Veonity
Against the odds, against the elements that are too powerful to come up against, a sort of a survival story in order to defeat the forces of evil. There are those that would argue that it is too much of cliché, nonetheless, in every story, no matter what is being thought of, has a moral. The Swedish Veonity bring forth a story of a boy that is a hero, a warrior with a shadow, a spirit that lives through him and fights a ferocious battle. Titled "Elements Of Power", the Swedish form of Metal has never sounded so strong. Steinmetal had to know more about the story and the album from its vocalist, Anders Sköld.
Rehn Stillnight & Federico Mondelli
Nocturna
Darkness and light, two forces that are constantly in each other's throats. So, who is evil, and who is not, probably a matter of perception? Coming forward with an imagery that is part of something bigger, and yet to be revealed, the Italian Nocturna band was made. Built under the existence of good and evil, as mere elements in a play, the Symphonic, and Gothic, fused Metal band take lead with their debut album, "Daughters Of the Night", signed to Scarlet Records. Steinmetal had a great chance for a talk with vocalist Rehn Stillnight, and guitarist, Federico Mondelli, about the new release and the band
Scott Leach
Crystal Ball
To remain energized and determined after the last couple of years, well that is not something that one might hear from a musician every day. With the lack of live activity, sitting at home, or studio, or anywhere else that is not on the road, or on a stage, it is understandable why there will be nothing more to think about other than the grim situation. However, it was already proven, time and time again, that there are those that would take advantage, waiting patiently, and simply march on, work on new things. Crystal Ball, one of the busiest bands, did that same thing and simply wrote a new album, "Crysteria". Steinmetal sat to talk with guitarist Scott Leach about how did the album, and the spirit of continuance, were maintained.

LAST DAYS OF EDEN
are:
Chris Appleton
Absolva
It is good that even when push comes to shove, and things aren't looking bright, but rather dark and grim, there is a hope after all. To make the best out of hope, that is psychology rather than skill. It starts with determination rather than ability. The British Metal band Absolva, has always been a beast on the road, and it means a lot on the road. Whether as Absolva, or as a touring band for Blaze Bayley. The pandemic didn't really scratch the band's spirit in any way, they made the best of it, piled up their motivation and were able to make two records. The new one in question, "Fire In The Sky", was just out the door. Steinmetal had a great talk with the band's vocalist / guitarist, Chris Appleton, about the experience of the pandemic, the album and general feeling of being out there again
Davon Van Dave & Eduarda Soeiro
Glasya
The ones who fight for the right thing, for the sake of those that will continue their path in the future, a form of sacrifice that unquestionable. The message doesn't have to suit fathers, or sons, it can relate to anyone out there that has that special someone that cares for him / her. If there is the willing to fight for that person, that is something. Listening to the sophomore production of the Portuguese Glasya has it to make one understand the importance of being there for others, to be their shield if need, put loved one's lives first. Shipping out their adventurous creation to date, "Attarghan", there is a story to tell, and a deep peak into how cinematics influenced Metal music. Steinmetal had a good talk with Keyboardist Davon Van Dave, and vocalist Eduarda Soeiro, about this rather huge step taken by the band, and its outcome.
Frank Prilipp
Powertryp
It is like being shot back, by a cannon, to the golden years of Metal, where it was celebrated by so many around the world. Tuning up to the newcomer German Heavy Metal band, Powertryp, it was a sight, or signal, for sore ears, hard to comprehend that it wasn't 1985 anymore. Releasing their debut album, "Midnight Marauder", old school Metal surely received a fine boost to its revival process, and one would have to guess who took care of the sound. Steinmetal had a good talk with the band's bass player, Frank Prilipp, about how it was all done and what makes it special.
Zellpike
Hellspike
Things have been on the rise, an escalation, some are quite visible, and some are dormant, silent, in waiting to erupt. On a daily basis, it becomes apparent that something wicked this way comes, yet it is still unknown when it will eventually strike, maybe never, who knows. Something is certain though, that Hellspike's guitarist, Zellpike, has quite a belly over things that have been happening, in particular with the pandemic and how the authorities use it for various gains. Introducing the band's new album, "Dynasties of Decay", once again through Metal On Metal Records, explores beyond Thrash Metal, and into traditional lands, along with the strong message. Steinmetal had a great chat with Zellpike, that had a lot on his mind about the world order.
Melynda Jackson
Eight Bells
Feeling lost in a world that has already bound itself in the same sense, beyond saving kind. To find motivation to actually live a life to their fullest, now that is tough for who believe that there is nothing good waiting for us at the far end of the tunnel. It is understandable, life hasn't been easy on Earth in the last 10 years, changes haven't always been to our favor, and that is to be considered a mild saying. Melynda Jackson, with her band Eight Bells, created a new chapter with "Legacy Of Ruin", where the anguish and dismay from this world come a live, and in the extreme. Steinmetal had to find out more about Jackson's perspective of life at present, and in light of the album
ARÐ
Mark Deeks
When not looking into the common taught history, but rather sinking deep into lesser known chapters of one's heritage, there is a sense of exploration, to find out more. Metal music has been an integral part of how to profoundly emphasize most of mankind's early natures and rougher attitudes. Needless to say that the heavier form of music captures the dramatic flavors of history with a convincing manner. Focusing on English history, Winterfylleth's Mark Deeks created ARÐ, swimming in Doom Metal, exploring individuals that aren't of common knowledge. Steinmetal had a chance to talk with Mark about the band's new album, "Take Up My Bones", its essence, musical journey and more…
Ben Bruce
Asking Alexandria
Asking Alexandra are a British metalcore band formed back in 2006. They released their debut album, "Stand up and Shout" in 2009 and things have been going up and up for them ever since. They have toured the world with many big name bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Of Mice and Men, Trivium, Papa Roach, As I Lay Dying, Whitechapel and Bullet For My Valentine. They have released a total of seven studio albums with their latest "See You On The Inside" being released in October of 2021. Metal-Temple's very own John Foley sits down to guitarist and founding member Ben Bruce to talk about his origins, playing the legendary Download Festival and what the bands plans are for the future.
Death Collector
Kieran Scott
Newcomers to the scene,
DEATHCOLLECTOR
, are one of the most eagerly anticipated and exciting prospects of the UK underground. The brutal death metal band may well be the 'new kid on the block', but don't let this fool you; the band comprises some of the most bruising talent going and the collective expertise of seasoned musicians in the metal world. With
Kieran Scott (Ashen Crown, Grimorte)
melting flesh from bone with his boisterous gutturals, none other than
Andy Whale
("We're not worthy!")
(Darkened, ex-Bolt Thrower, ex-Memoriam)
,
Mick Carey (Zealot Cult)
and
Lee Cummings (Severe Lacerations)
, completing the punishing line-up, you're guaranteed a slab of hulking metal goodliness.
Leanne "Metal Maiden" Evans
, Editor for
Metal Temple
, took the opportunity to speak with the maestros of metal to pick at their grey matter over the whys and wherefores of the roots of the band, chew over some of their previous music experiences, and salivate over the weird and wonderful memories of band life. Read on for a taster of
DeathCollector
– a metal aperitif if you will – for a touch of the profound, a fistful of top surface and a smattering of the inane; how in the hell does
Scott Fairfax
and a ham and cheese platter make its way into this interview?!
Andreas Glanz
Re-Machined
Hard to the crew, never letting go of the roots, being straight to the point, without anything that is unnecessary to add, because if it works, it works. Simplicity has never been a bad word in music, and in Rock and Metal it generated a whole lot of power. Letting the fans sing the songs, air guitar the riffs and simply having the moment, stand up and be counted. The veteran bunch of Re-Machined never tried to be more than they are, they portray their German essence as humble but with class. With their new album "Brain Dead" out there, Steinmetal had a good chat with songwriter and guitarist, Andreas Glanz, about the album, the period and more…
Matt Hanchunk & Søren Adamsen
Gutter Creek
Simply a trio of guys coming to work together, all in the name of heavy music, and past influences that matter to the context. Essentially, it is also, perhaps mainly a matter of what feels inside. The passion to recreate the past but with an embodiment of the future. When Wreck-Defy's Matt Hanchunk, and his buddy Derrick Kroll, form Gutter Creek, they decided that there is a need for a top class vocalist, ex-Artillery's Søren Adamsen became the leading candidate. Adamsen himself was equally passionate upon invitation, and no doubt that he proved himself right in the band's self-titled debut, "Gutter Creek". Steinmetal had Matt and Søren sit down and talk about the basics behind the idea of the band, the newly released album and of course what the future holds

Christian Bakka Larson
Night Cobra
The future is now, but is it? The past already kicked everyone in the ass once, but what about the future? Dystopia is part of a process, some would say imaginative, because no one is going to really let this one slide and just happen right? A lot of questions and wanderings, probably with not end in sight. Night Cobra is where dystopia lies, a possible future that nobody wants but has to look at it with open eyes and learn. Steinmetal had a good chance to talk with Christian Larson, also known as Bakka, about the band's debut album, " Dawn Of The Serpent". Bakka has been around for sure, and his devotion to old school Metal is right there for grasps.

Jack MacMichael & Danny Foster
Eliminator
When thinking about the end, there are those that contemplate in such an Earthly manner on what will eventually happen that would succumb us all to utter destruction, and what not. Nonetheless, to have a view from the end of a celestial entity, now that is far beyond, hard to reach, even to consider such thoughts and generate them into a form of concept, needless to say a song. The British Heavy Metal band, Elimintaor, have been under different terms this time around with their new album "Ancient Light". With lots of time to perfect efforts, and be better in every scale, so was the story. Steinmetal took on vocalist Danny Forester and guitarist Jack MacMichael on a ride through the album's journey to comprehend what was, and what will be
Aron Biale
Ty Morn
The phrase: "… We are not in Kansas anymore", it can be interpreted in various ways. Thinking ab it deeply about it, there is a constant fear, even if not as part of the Pop culture, that is due to a certain end of the world, sometime, someday. There is someone watching everything, perhaps a plotting evil person that is behind all this, or just watcher that looks at everything is if it was a tragedy set. The ongoing project, Ty Morn, already made it mark with a promising debut, and as time went by, thinks started to get even more serious with the appearance of "Last Villain Testament". Steinmetal, once again, had the pleasure to talk in brief with Aron Biale, the mastermind of Ty Morn, about how did it all come to be.

Maik Huber
Tension
An insight in regards to what is our role in the universe, or let's say in the planet. We, as people, have a lot of wish to bloom, to develop, to reach for the stars, and in the future even to build ourselves in them. With a lot of aspirations, there is also that reality check, and that is what are we doing now, or what have we been doing. Is there a care for ourselves, and our surroundings? Tension's Maik Huber appears worried about the decay process, and his band just released their new album "Decay". Steinmetal had a good talk with Maik about the album, and its Heavy Metal exploration
Chris Klapper
Custard
History, and it can be argued that is brutish side in particular, always suited well with Metal music, as clearly, it was proven that it this music can really tell a story, portray events of old. The Roman Empire has been an inspiration for many songwriters, the violent nature of their era, alongside the wonders of their advancements, still remain as one of mankind's interesting eras to learn, and understand. The German Custard, used to stage fantasy tales, this time around sunk their teeth into history, and made it quite well with "Imperium Rapax". Steinmetal had a chance to talk to Chris Klapper of the band about the album's epos, along with its meaning, and the music.
Andy Boulton
Tokyo Blade
People that have lived throughout the golden years haven't really foreseen what the future holds, and it is possible that the shock of what came from technology and humanity in the last decades was quite substantial. With everything being digital, it has been hard for some to adjust, the need to see people hasn't been similar to the past, life became desolate in a way. Through their new album, the British Metal stalwarts, Tokyo Blade, have been preaching their dismay from what has been going on. "Fury" is what they feel. Steinmetal had a good talk with guitarist Andy Boulton about the experience how the band sees the world
Harvester
Vicious Knights
Between belief and facts, there is a lot that can be said about many things that people comprehend, or try to understand through various ways. The unnatural is compelling, and when it generates curiosity, it can be like a well without a clear depth. The Greek Thrash / Death Metal band, Vicious Knights, and their vocalist / guitarist, Anthony, also known as Harvester, have a lot to say about things that are dark, and disturbing. In particular, being possessed, and possession as a narrative. Steinmetal had a good chat with Anthony about the band's new album "Alteration Through Possession", and what makes the latter's intrigue in both music and overall
Jut Tabor

Kevin Myers
Psychoprism
At times, people forget that the underground scene of Metal music is the majority, it has been bringing up new talents on a daily basis, unveiling great musicians, and bands, that may be the next promise from the music. On the other hand, in a world of industry and money, only the cherries, or supposed cherries, are looked upon, while mainly ignoring what lies beneath. Psychoprism has been one of the many underground bands that don't really need to prove that they are good at what they do. Their sophomore album, "R.I.S.E." atones to that. Steinmetal had a good talk with the band's veteran, Kevin Myers, about the experience of the album, and his views on the music.
Jeffrey Revet & Jouke Westerhof
Redstacks
This is not about rehashing the old, or simply revamping of the past, this is pure passion, and nothing can beat it. Whether part of a revival, or not, those that feel the vibe, breathe the spirit, tend to have it all, and produce the best of their hearts and brains. Reliving the past in their own accord, Jeffery Revet & Jouke Westerof formed Redstacks, where the 70s come a live, rockin' till the dawn. Coming up with their debut album, "Revival Of The Fittest", released by Pure Steel Records. Steinmetal had the great pleasure to chat with both musicians, and hear about their complex songwriting sessions, their passion towards the music and more…
Joe Parkinson
Tortured Demon
Thrash trio
TORTURED DEMON
have taken the UK by storm and firmly imprinted the thrash underground with their progressive thrashcore vibe, notably in their debut album release,
"In Desperation's Grip".
Barely out of school, these rambunctious musicians prove that age is merely a number, and talent speaks for itself. Having already floored Bloodstock in 2021, opening for
XENTRIX
and smashing the shit out of their own headliner, the lads have also been personally selected by
EVILE
to join them on tour, after seeing their unflinching ability to wreck necks and wreak havoc.
Leanne Evans
, Editor for
Metal Temple
, caught up with the band's drummer
Joe Parkinson
to talk more about the band's dynamics and the foundations of
TORTURED DEMON
and see what the next step is. Mark our words,
TORTURED DEMON
is a well-oiled, hefty thrash machine with a MASSIVE future ahead; these lads are set for BIG things!
Tassos Krokodilos
Spitfire
Keeping a certain flow of music for decades that is quite a challenge, especially when a band isn't necessarily career driven. Life can be kind, yet life can also be unexpected, things can change, and what life brings can affect every decision made, even when it comes to a music career. Spitfire have been legendary in Greece due to a debut album that made them a name, yet it has been hard to keep a stream of music flowing. They returned once, and now once again, but this time, proving that had all the tools in order to make something big. That something is called "Denial To Fall". Steinmetal had a chat with the band's new vocalist, and promise, Tassos Krokodilos, about his experience from the new album
Marvin Kiefer
Lynx
It starts with a direction and from there, it takes off into new borders and beyond. It the beginning of nearly all artists around the world, no matter the musical genre. The story of the Hard Rock band Lynx is more of the same, and it appears that it is still developing, constantly seeking to make the best possible within their own beloved spectrum of musical choice. Following the release of their new album, "Watcher Of Skies", where a means to escape is presented, Steinmetal had a talk with vocalist, Marvin Kiefer, and it seems that things are simpler than they appear.
Bob Mitchell
Sceptor
Essentially one can do everything in music, and survive, depending on public support. Of course, it doesn't mean that artists can't be unique and produce something that is less popular, because art doesn't have to be like everything else, it more up and personal and less for grabs. Sceptor, generating a Heavy Metal style that has a direct contact to the US Metal prowess of the 80s, have been adamant in their direction, and lately producing one of their best albums under the moniker, "Rise To The Light". Talk about optimism, yet with a heavier punch. Steinmetal had the honors with a short talk with the renowned vocalist, Bob Mitchell, about his performance on the record, the album's music and more…
Hilton Theissen & Christian Mertens
Dark Millennium
Every person has his / her own story. While there is always a hope for a good story, which means better life without complications, it barely exists for anyone. Life is dynamic, it takes a person through various decision makings, taking the next route to the next milestone. Each decision might be crucial to decide what comes next. Dark Millennium's new album "Acid River" twists the idea of that course in life, spreading into different realities and characters, and of course their stories. Steinmetal had a great pleasure to talk with guitarist Hilton Theissen and vocalist Christian Mertens, about the album's state of mind, musical diversity and more…
Moriah Formica
Plush
PLUSH
is an incredibly talented young band. Only one of the four members are legal to drink in the United States. That is not said to disparage their age, it is meant to highlight that they have a long road ahead of them and have lots of time to create more of their immensely relatable and catchy brand of hard rock. From stellar guitars to an incredible rhythm section, these ladies are on top of their game. Rated as
