Kevin Ridley
Skyclad
Skyclad's probably the most well known Folk Metal band in the book of Metal history. The band's course started in 1991 and together with x-singer Martin Walkyier they managed to create a distinguishing sound by using pipes, fiddles and all sorts of traditional instruments, combined with a Folk breathing core. Things though started to get tense within the band's borderlines and after Another Fine Mess (2001) Walkyier left the band. A new singer was found shortly after Martin had left and his name's Kevin Ridley. Together with Kevin, they released No Daylights Nor Heeltaps (2002) and now they are about to release their second album with Kevin as their singer, A Semblance Of Normality. We contacted Kevin via e-mail and here's what he had to say about a lot of issues concerning Skyclad's past, present and future...and of course a few questions about himself as a person.
Lars Ramcke (Thunder Axe)
StormWarrior
StormWarrior's a Speed Power band from Germany. Their style? Their style's pretty much like Helloween of the 80s and this is something quite distinguishing in terms of identity. Alex had the chance to interview singer (and guitarist) Lars Ramcke (a.k.a. Thunder Axe) via e-mail. Here's what he had to say about their resemblance to early Helloween, their relationship with Gamma Ray's frontman Kai Hansen and more!
Kenny Hallman
Infernal Majesty
Infernal Majesty, one of the most historical Thrash/Death Metal bands around, gave Metal-Temple.Com an e-mail Interview. Eleni asked Kenny Hallman (guitar) about their latest album, One Who Points To Death (through Black Lotus Records), their past (lineup changes etc), their newest members and much more!
Vincent Crowley
Acheron
Acheron's among those bands with an important historical significance for the aggressive genre of Death Metal. Under the haunting vocals of Vincent Crowley, Acheron has been spreading its evil message for more than 15 years. A band which was more into music for music itself rather than fortune thus always had an underground aroma. Thodoris interviewed Vincent Crowley via e-mail and here's what he had to say about the band, himself (and Satanism), recent concert cancellations and more!
Bill Leverty
Firehouse
In the early 90s when Grunge music made its appearance, Heavy Metal and Hard Rock went through some pretty rough times. A lot of Hair Metal (or Glam Rock if you prefer) bands vanished as Grunge made its way up in the music industry (though it didn't last that long after all). As the majority of those bands seemed to fade away, there were a few which, surprisingly enough, had a huge impact upon music fans all around the world. Among these few bands was the U.S. Glam Rock band, Firehouse. This band managed to conquer all just within their first 3 years of existence, also being awarded (back in 1991) with the Best New Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Act award. They not only managed to survive through the 90s but created great records throughout their entire course. Last year marked the band's latest album release Prime Time but was also the year for a great tragedy as bassist Bruce Waibel passed away (he'd joined the band in 2000). I had the chance to interview Bill Leverty, Firehouse's guitar player, via e-mail. Read this quite interesting interview because... that was all he wrote.
Eric Ragno
Vox Tempus
Despite the unbearable mid-summer heat (killing the poor birdies on my terrace) here I am pumping interviews out of music's endless sack. This time I got the chance to interview a very skilled keyboard player, Eric Ragno, whose band's (Vox Tempus) promotional demo got reviewed at Metal-Temple.Com Magazine a couple of months ago and well it really impressed me. Eric's from Los Angeles and well, he's no newcomer in the genre of progressive rock. Check out what he had to say about Vox Tempus, about his long collaboration with Takara, about music in general (old L.A. 'hair metal' was one of our topics) and of course about himself (his influences and more). [Interview done via e-mail]
Kessier
Seraphim
Our dear editor, Makis, has an open eye for anything going on in the planet. This time he discovered a band from Taiwan, called Seraphim. He was pretty thrilled about them since he reviewed their new album, Ai and he demanded an e-mail interview with the band. Well...here it is! Enjoy this quite long interview with one of the band's guitar players, who's also the main composer, Kessier.
Dave Mustaine
Megadeth
Megadeth's a band name considered to be among the most historical bands in Heavy Metal history. A band which gave us masterpieces of pure Heavy Metal mania, like Rust In Peace and Countdown To Extinction but also troubled us with various events going on within the band's roster, with band members leaving while at the same time accusing, others coming just for a while etc. There's one person behind Megadeth though who's never given up (and why should he?) no matter what he had to confront within or outside of the band and that's none other than Dave Mustaine. Eleni and I met Mustaine in Athens, on the 7th of July and he spoke to us about almost everything, ranging from the past (about former band members and Metallica) to his forthcoming Megadeth release, The System Has Failed and even beyond that...he spoke to us about his political beliefs. Read this more than interesting Interview; it might solve a few questions you might have. Enjoy!
Jukka-Pekka Miettinen
Ensiferum
Ensiferum is a band from Finland which combines Findland's traditional Folk mysic together with Death Metal. Alex interviewed bass player Jukka-Pekka Miettinen via e-mail and here's what he had to say about the band's influences, the people's response, their life except for playing in the band and more!
Jeff Scott Soto
Jeff Scott Soto
I've been a Jeff Scott Soto fan for some time now. What always impressed me, apart of his voice's complexion, was the variety of the projects he interferes in. So, when I thought of contacting the manager of promotion of Frontiers Records to arrange an interview with him (the whole thing was over in just 2 working days! Mr Bordi I'm grateful.) I decided not to concentrate on his latest personal release only, but also refer to the past. And JSS gave me some really interesting and obviously direct answers. I wish I could have asked him even more but an e-mail interview is always a little bit restricting. Enjoy!
Dirk Schlächter and Henjo Richter
Gamma Ray
During this year's Rockwave Festival in Greece, Gamma Ray had a task to perform and that was to replace Running Wild who'd cancelled just a few days before the festival. On short notice Gamma Ray came and gave one hell of a performance (as usual) reminding people how alive they've always been and will always continue to be on stage! That happened on the 19th of June. On the 20th of June we were at the Metropolitan hotel (which has a bitchin' management towards reporters) in Athens and we got to meet Gamma Ray for the second time in our Magazine's course.
Alex and I went up to the roof garden and we sat together with Dirk Schlächter (bass guitar) and Henjo Richter (guitar, keyboards) to commence this interview.
Kai Hansen (vocals) was sitting with somebody else (from another Magazine) but that certainly didn't mean we were disappointed for interviewing Dirk and Henjo instead! I knew for sure how crazy these guys were (and friendly – you've simply got to love them!) as it wasn't my first Interview with Gamma Ray...but Alex had no clue! Read on you Gamma Ray maniacs, this interview is dedicated to all of you out there who love this band! Thank you for sending me all those questions you wanted us to ask the band, unfortunately we didn't have time to ask them all of your questions but fortunately we didn't just ask only one of your questions!
Alex Krull
Atrocity
Atrocity is one of Germany's first Death Metal bands (if not the first) and Alex Krull (singer of Atrocity) has always been around! By getting to know Alex from up close you realize that he's not only a great musician full of endless inspiration but he also is a great person! Eleni and I met him at a hotel in the centre of Athens and he was more than delighted to talk to us about Atrocity's new album, Atlantis, the past (some great stories), the present (about his wife Liv Kristine and their work in Leaves' Eyes) and the future.
Frank Boeijen
The Gathering
The Gathering is a band with the gift to unite some of the extreme ends of today's music fans with great ease. It's not a strange thing to find yourself between a guy wearing an Iron Maiden t-shirt and a girl that you'd swear that she doesn't even know who these Maiden guys are. Frank's performance during the semi-acoustic Gathering gig was amazing during that night. But before that and after an entertaining sound check he had some things to say first.
Daniele Liverani
Genius
How many artists in the world wake up one morning and come up with an idea to compose a rock opera? I certainly don't know the exact answer to that nor do I know how many of them finally manage to make that personal ambition come true. Well...actually I do know one musician who made it, for sure. Ladies and gentlemen behold one of the most ambitious and tallented musicians from Italy, Daniele Liverani! [Interview done via e-mail]
Timo Kotipelto
Timo Kotipelto
There's no doubt that one of Stratovarius' most vital parts during a longtime period was Timo Kotipelto's vocals. Timo is now on his own, following his solo career, which is something he always wanted to do (besides Stratovarius). He spoke to Metal-Temple.Com Magazine about his second solo album, Coldness, his feelings about what happened with Stratovarius, his future plans and ambitions.
Michael T. Ross
Hardline II
Michael Ross, keyboard player for L.A. melodic rockers Hardline II, Ramos and other interesting rock bands was kind enough to state he's a Metal-Temple reader! Well we wanted more than just to thank him so here's the Interview he gave Eleni!
Jukka Nevalainen
Nightwish
When you are going to get an interview from one of your favorite bands and the heavy traffic gets in your way, one can only curse the time that we got the damn CocaColympics. Anyway, Jukka is a great guy (who likes beer) and didn't mind me being late. We had the chance to talk about the new fantastic album from Nightwish, its cover, the past and future of the band, piracy from a record label and lots of other interesting things.
Keith Fay and John Clohessy
Cruachan
When you hear someone say Folk Metal what band do you think of? Well, I'll tell you what I think of...I think of Ireland's Cruachan. A unique mixture of folk music together with Black Metal, combined with myths and stories from lands unknown (or not that unknown after all). Here's the Interview I had with Keith Fay and John Clohessy, two Irish musicians with a lot to say about the band, their beliefs and much more.
Fabio Calluori
Heimdall
Fabio Calluori (guitarist) of Italian power metallers Heimdall was recently Interviewed by our good old templar, Makis, via e-mail. Fabio spoke about the band (an introduction for all those who don't know them), Hard As Iron (their latest release), himself, touring and much-much more!
Byron
Bal-Sagoth
Metal-Temple's growing bigger and bigger day by day. Alex is our new editor and his first mission was to e-mail Interview Bal-Sagoth's singer, Byron. The band's currently in the recording process of their new album and Alex had more than a few interesting questions to ask Byron. Behold as what Byron had to say follows!
Kerry Livgren
Proto-Kaw
Music is an ever to be flowing river; music's one of those form of arts which remain although people parish. It never dies. Some songs are remembered and others are remembered even more. One of the songs which I'll never forget (me and some millions of people won't) is Dust In The Wind by Kansas. What I'd never simply imagine is that one day I'd be on the phone, talking to a living legend, the person who'd written this song and many more, Kerry Livgren! Kerry told me about his reunited band (a reunion that took place 30 years later) Proto-Kaw, his thoughts, Kansas and more.
Niklas Sundin
Dark Tranquillity
Sweden's got a great scene (and women too - um...and men) and everyday even more people start listening to what we call Swedish Death Metal. One of the bands who was there from the very beginning (excpet for In Flames) and still is, is Dark Tranquillity. Niklas Sundin (guitarist) took some time off to answer a few questions Metal-Temple had concerning the band's latest album, Damage Done and Dark Tranquillity in general.
Wade Black
Leash Law
Wade Black, former Crimson Glory singer, formed a superband, called Leash Law which among other awesome musicians, includes drum-ace Richard Christy! This isn't Wade's first Interview with Metal - Temple and we sure hope to Interview him again...and again...and again. Read what this extremely warm and friendly Heavy Metal frontman had to say to Makis via e-mail. Read about Leash Law, Black Lotus Records, his other band(Tiwanaku), the past, the future...everything!
Stefan Berg
Meduza
Eleni's our ass-whipping female editor (together with Dimitra, hehe) and when she demands something, she means business! After her review of Meduza's Upon The World, she stepped into my office (ok guys, stop laughing) one day and demanded I arranged an e-mail Interview with Stefan Berg of Meduza. I told her I wanted to finish my pizza first but before I could finish my sentence, she had assumed the kill-the-chief-editor karate position and was about to strike me in the face. That's what you get for being a Chief Editor nowadays...Here's Eleni's quite interesting interview with Stefan Berg.
Anna, BB Mayes and David Vella
Satya Graha
There's a spiritual path to follow in life, which comes in many forms. One of them is music and what I mean by path is the expression of our inner, warmest feelings and thoughts. Music can be extremely positive, it can be extremely negative too, when it comes to transmitting the artist's inner energy onto the audience. Satya Graha have something positive to pass onto your ears and into your minds. After my review of Under The Skin – Volume I I simply felt the need to interview those, indeed cultured, musicians behind Satya Graha. Here's a most delightful interview!
Gus G.
Dream Evil
Dream Evil's latest album, The Book Of Heavy Metal was reviewed by Metal-Temple.Com during the past few weeks and we simply couldn't resist asking them about the new album, their future thoughts and the band generally. The Interview was done via e-mail and Gus G. answered our questions.
Vince Cavanagh
Anathema
Over the past years Anathema have created a warm relationship with Greece, having sold out gigs almost every single time. After the release of A Natural Disaster they couldn't neglect playing in Greece, during their tour across Europe. We caught Vincent Cavanagh, at the hotel they were staying, during lunch (he kindly invited us to join him but no, we're hard-working editors, we need no food or water...). Here's what he had to say.
Steven -Lips- Kudlow
Anvil
On the first day, God created Heavy Metal. On the second day God created Heavy Metal bands and one of those was Anvil! (and on the third day He created Heavy Metal fans...- well after that came the birds, the bees and the trees).
For 23 years Anvil have been around, providing us always with the same good old Heavy Metal. We spoke with the man behind everything, Steven Lips Kudlow. Here is what this pioneer, this defender of Heavy Metal had to say...(and he had pretty much to say!)
Will Dayble
Innocent Cabbage
Let me tell you a story to chill the bones...Once upon a time, on a farm, lived a tiny little cabbage. The cabbage was innocent by all means and lived it's life free, having no worries, having no fears. Then one day, the cabbage decided to go to the local record store to buy some Heavy Metal music (it was curious we must add) and find out what the fuss was all about. It pressed the play button on it's Discman and then...the poor little, innocent cabbage exploded into smithereens. We held some Investigations (we had to travel all the way down to Australia) together with the local authorities and finally managed to arrest the evil mind behind this cruel tragedy. Here's Will Dayble, singer of Innocent Cabbage and manager of Pith Records. This is what he had to say (that won't save him in court!)...
Agares
Arcane Church
Arcane Church is an Underground (for the moment) Black Metal band from England. They were proclaimed as 5th Best-Unsigned Band for 2003 by Terrorizer and that's what actually caught our attention...Here follows a quite interesting Interview with one of the band members, Agares, the drummer of Arcane Church.
Peter Stalfors
Dream Evil
Interview with Peter Stalfors of Dream Evil, a Swedish heavy metal band which I believe it's gone to be big. Take a minute and read what Peter told us about their debut album DragonSlayer and Dream Evil in general.
Pegazus
Johnny Stoj
After their latest release The Headless Horseman we squeezed our interview with Johnny Stoj in his programm...
Here's what he told us about the album and Pegazus in general...
Thomas Väänänen
Thyrfing
A new album is always a good reason to catch up with a band and especially if it is of such high quality as Vansinnesvisor. We had an interview with singer and frontman Thomas Väänänen about Thyrfing's new release and more....
Tom S Englund
Evergrey
After their gig in Athens on Friday the 19th at Sporting Arena, we had the chance to have Evergrey's mastermind Tom Englund pass our metal inquisition. Here's what we got...
Chewy and Eric
Bludgeon
Bludgeon is a new thrash / death metal band from Chicago, U.S.A. What makes this band special is their extreme metallic sound and the killer production. We manage to get in contact with Chewy ( drums ) and Eric E Carol ( bass / vocals ) in order to learn more about this new apparition. Read what they told us...
Joey DeMaio, Scott Columbus
Manowar
When it's time to interview your all time favorite band and you know that you have to face in personal the bandmembers your tongue start making tricks, your legs start weighing and a tremble goes through your body. This is exactly how I felt when I met Joey DeMaio and Scott Columbus from Manowar in order to ask them about the bands new record, Warriors Of The World. This interview is separated in two pieces. First, Scott Columbus talk to us about the new record and second Joey DeMaio, talk to us about anything we need to know and answering mostly questions made by fans. Dimitris A. ( thanks mate ) and I went at Park hotel in Athens / Greece, at the 12th of April in order to interview the Kings Of Metal and here you can read what they told us. Ride...
