interview
Van Labrakis - (Nite)
May 22, 2022
Think about an open season. A band reaches its debut and then heads out to explore new grounds In a varied market such as today, there is a clear need, even though not a real necessity, to come about and create something that is out of the reach of normality. The blackened styled Heavy Metal band, Nite, took on an explorative journey in order to perfect themselves, and unleash a kind of album that would make a difference, for them at first. Signing with Season Of Mist turned out to be a boost, and the new album "Voices of the Kronian Moon" showed that there is an ongoing prospect. Steinnetal had a good talk with the band's vocalist / guitarist, Van Labrakis, about the experience of the new album and the importance of exploration.

H.A.V.O.C. - (Blood Torrent)
May 21, 2022
So who are we, those that apparently on a destructive rage upon ourselves? Well, people can't live by on a daily basis, waiting for their own destruction right? Because there is a slim chance that they would do that to themselves, instead, and sadly, others will do it for them. Call it collateral damage. Trying to understand the reasons behind the known theory of Fermi may take you down a trip to Blood Torrent's new album, "Void Universe", where Black Metal leads the path to understanding. Steinmetal had a great talk with the band's vocalist, H.A.V.O.C., about the band's journey on the album and more…

Matt Moliti - (Sentient Horror)
May 15, 2022
There have been countless of opinions by a lot of people in regards to what the pandemic caused to the mental state of people. Other than the feeling of seclusion, being in closed doors, and alone, there were also other voices, saying that solidarity raised its head. Nevertheless, other than solidarity, there were those that their inner skin was discovered, the whole nine yards of pure filth, and possibly, evil that waited to burst out. Gladly that there were those that chose to escape in imagination, such as Sentient Horror's Matt Moliti. The band's new album, "Rites Of Gore", shares the old school values. Steinmetal had a chance to talk again with Matt about it all.

interview
Fawaz al-Shawaf - (Creative Waste)
May 3, 2022
They say lightning never strikes the same place twice. On March 25, 2022, for the second time in three years, a lightning bolt called
CREATIVE WASTE
hit the Bohemian Art Cafe, a coffee/record shop in Khobar, Saudi Arabia. While the band had performed at international festivals and gigs across the world, playing in their home country was problematic. When the band performed at the Bohemian Art Cafe 2019, it was the first public Metal show in the history of Saudi Arabia. Despite fears and concerns, the show went off without a hitch. The success of the show, however, wasn't about ticket sales or venting restrained angst. It was about artistic expression. It was about saying that if you have a dream, you can make it happen with enough drive, with enough focus.
Three years later
CREATIVE WASTE
returned for another historic evening. This time the fears and concerns were much different. Instead of worrying about being incarcerated or heavily fined, the fears were about turnout and sound engineering. And while the worries about sound engineering were warranted (the band experienced a few minor technical hiccups), the crowd was abundant and enthusiastic. Fans who could not come into the venue because of capacity issues were happy to stand outside and watch the show through the large panel glass walls.
Metal Temple
editor
Gary Hernandez
had the privilege of attending. It was mind-blowing.
For those new to
CREATIVE WASTE
, they formed in 2002 and have one demo, one EP, one live split, and two full-length albums under their belt. They are currently a foursome, with brothers
Fawaz al-Shawaf
(guitars, vocals) and
Talal al-Shawaf
(drums) being joined by
Abdulaziz al-Bayyat
(bass) and
Hussain Akbar
(guitars). Most Metal fans categorize them Grindcore. The band does not disagree. A few weeks after the March 22 show, he had the chance to catch up with
Fawaz al-Shawaf
to talk about their history-making shows in the Kingdom, the Metal scene in the region, their plans for the future as well as some insights into what makes
CREATIVE WASTE
tick.

Stefan Castevet - (Luzifer)
April 27, 2022
Just for the thrill of it, no obligations, just plain fun for the sake of Heavy Metal. There is never a no effort situation when writing songs, even if there is no chance that the end product would be played on stages ever. Perhaps, being without a deadline, a label the expects it and a fanbase that want it out performed live, there is a magic too it, a sense of relief in a way. Maybe that stress free environment is good for a band like the German Luzifer. Steinmetal had a talk about it with the band's Stefan Castevet, guitarist of Vulture as well, and the band's new album, "Iron Shackles".
