Temple of Wounds
Tulpa
This was an excellent album, and I love the crossover of styles, as well as the bevy of different emotions the album ran through. Rage, hate, despair, and hopelessness are just a few. They are all presented with a sense of confidence from the band as well.
Somber
Ater
The cross between Death Metal and Progressive, groovy Djent is a combination that I haven’t heard this year. The band exudes confidence as well, and place the listener in the eye of the hurricane, where the winds whip you into a frenzy of blistering notes and eerie backing qualities.

Óðkraptr
What strikes me most about the album is a frigid chill that sets in early and never leaves. It’s the kind of chill that seems into your bones, and your soul, and once it hits, no amount of sun can bring you warmth. Although this is Black Metal at its core, consider the use of that phrase liberally, and expansively. It is indeed a personal take, and I applaud the composer’s commitment to offering something different.
Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment
Shadohm
In sum, the album has a lot to offer Metal fans, including deep, heavy grooves that go on for days, enough weight to beat down a woolly mammoth, and guttural vocals that could scare Chuck Norris. It’s all done with an impeccable sense of timing, and the production is stellar as well, really allowing each part to come through into a synergy that isn’t often reached.
Abraxas
Alkhemia
This was a solid album. Through five songs, the listener is berated with emotions such as rage, hopelessness, and a general disdain for life. For me, the dark wolf wins in this battle.
Led Astray
Crucifier
This was a solid album, and it was swampier than most Black Metal albums, to the point where as a listener you can get slowly sucked into the filth and revel in it. I like the fact that it was off the beaten path a bit, but still held some of the traditions of the genre. In today’s Black Metal scene, anything is possible, if you have the courage to fly, and fly they did.
Les Chants de l'Aurore
Alcest
“Les Chants de l'Aurore” explores the delicate balance between light and darkness, villains and heroes, beauty and beastly. Each track masterfully navigates these contrasting themes, and the music captures the constant interplay between opposing forces, offering moments of uplifting melodies intertwined with darker, more intense passages. This balance causes a sense of tension and resolution, mirroring the complexities of the human experience. There are some utterly breathtaking moments, and it’s the best album I have heard this year to date.
Oblivion Aeternam
Mythraeum
What strikes me most about the album is the careful detail the band went into with the songwriting. It is as aggressive as a cornered snake without a meal in years, but you can tell they are so much more.
Extinction
Ixion
“Extinction” is an interesting little EP and it's worth carving out a spare 20 minutes to get lost into their unique sound.
Borders of Mania
Red Rot
All in all,
RED ROT
’s “
Borders of Mania
,” is such an intense album on every level that it was a surreal listening experience. I highly suggest this to any fan of extreme music.

Alive
Honeymoon Suite
Guys, welcome back. There is enough of a rocking sound on the album to attract serious music aficionados, but it’s in the more tender and melodic sound is where much of their magic lives. For me, it sounds like they picked up right where they left off so many years ago, and still have a lot to offer the music community.
III
Sonic Wolves
Psychedelic Italians.
Anthology Of Horror
Vincent Crowley
The music on “Anthology Of Horror” will remind you a lot of MIDNIGHT and some of KING DIAMOND, albeit a lot tamer than his peers usually are.
Love And Other Lies
Lifesick
The band are giving “Love And Other Lies” the honour as being named their debut. And what a debut it is.
Tattoo Me
Lee Aaron
Let me state that the voice of LEE AARON hasn’t suffered too much during her aging process, so still sounds quite strong. That makes listening to a full album a lot easier, as you never have to worry if she is going to hack it or not.
Defectum Omnium
Exhorder
I feel that through all the new blood that is entering the Thrash Metal market, they should be noticed and acknowledged as one of those bands who have been groundbreaking in their sound, which hopefully will result in full acceptance within the Metal community. EXHORDER deserves nothing less.
Minotaur
Ear Danger
Let me be frank, every song you hear will take you back to the early eighties, due to the style of music that EAR DANGER are playing.
Sound & Fury
Dust Bolt
“Sound & Fury” is actually the fifth album by DUST BOLT, the first four being “Violent Demolition” (2012), “Awake The Riot” (2014), “Mass Confusion” (2016) and “Trapped In Chaos” (2019). I can’t say I ever heard any of their earlier work, but if that is in the same vein as what they offer here, I am definitely interested.
Et Disperdam Illud
Dead Earth
What is the expectation I have of DEAD EARTH and this, their debut album “Et Disperdam Illud”? I really don’t know, I feel that they are not too high, as usually people don’t play all instruments as well as they think they do. In this case I can put your mind at ease, as all music is played from at least a good level up to an outstanding level.
Two Shots At Glory
Crazy Lixx
One thing is for sure, if these songs speak to you, you will be looking for all former records. That’s how music works, and the addictive qualities of CRAZY LIXX on “Two Shots At Glory” only enhance that feeling.
Legends & Lores
Chamelion
Epic Symphonic Fantasy Power Metal is apparently the musical direction the Finnish band CHAMELION has opted to go for. Well, when the classical sounding introduction “The Conquest” begins, it certainly directs every listener that way. What I have here is actually the debut album.
Odes to Wailing, Hymns to Mourning
Glyph
Overall, this was an excellent album, filled with harrowing sounds, depressive sounds, and that low grind that reminds me of what it is like to work your entire life with nothing to show at the end.
Season of Evil
Wasted Death
A very good anc chaotic mix between D-Beat, Grindcore, Death Metal and Hardcore is what this trio delivers.
Awakening Force
Wanderer
Wow, what a good and promising Old School Speed/Heavy Metal act from Portugal.
Wastelands
Stellar Remains
A fine Atmospheric Death/Black Metal release from this Australian one man band.
The Third Planet
Moonin Down
A Stoner/Psychedelic Rock Italian act releases a very good work.
Behold the Cross
Iron Cross/Holocross
This 3 CD set is a fine opportunity to know this quartet's evolultion.
The Horror and the Metal
F.K.Ü.
Binding horror lyricals themes and Thrash Metal, this Swedish quartet really hit the target!
Void
Coma Rossi
Loss is the theme of the album. People deal with loss very differently. Some retreat within, and carry the pain without the outside world knowing it. Others wear it like paint on the face. The poignant and emotionally tolling music reflect both of these ways, and more. At times it is so beautiful, I want to swallow it all, although that thread of loss that runs through is deeply burdensome, and other times, it forces me into thought. They would do well with a dedicated vocalist, but this is an album that you will want to hear.
The Mother
Verwoed
...an unique album by a musician that clearly has an unique vision. This interesting piece of blackened storytelling is well worth your time no matter what type of metal you are into.
...and the Void Started Back
Vigil
This is an incredible debut album and I look forward to seeing how they can expand upon this sound, I feel they can be a truly have the potential to make a next level release.
Gehenna
Rossometile
Gehanna” is a multi-layered album, that includes elements from traditional symphonic Metal, operatic elements, a few industrial vibes, and traditional Folk elements
Oblivion’s Legacy
Ancient Settlers
ANCIENT SETTLERS deliver a decent melodic Metalcore album with some melodic Death Metal twists
Stolen Pictures
Fughu
Like DREAM THEATER, the band seems to possess a veritable well of creativity that they only partially unleash on the album. They have a flair for the dramatic, as well as a sense of simplicity on the album. Their musicianship is very strong, as is their confidence, and both play out equally in this uniquely pleasing sound.
Hellspawn
Immortal Sÿnn
Promising to deliver “old school” classic rock with a dash of thrash tossed in, IMMORTAL SYNN from the land of the Rocky Mountains brings us their latest EP “Hellspawn”.
