Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment

In sum, the album has a lot to offer Metal fans, including deep, heavy grooves that go on for days, enough weight to beat down a woolly mammoth, and guttural vocals that could scare Chuck Norris. It’s all done with an impeccable sense of timing, and the production is stellar as well, really allowing each part to come through into a synergy that isn’t often reached.

From Bandcamp, “Prepare yourselves for the latest offering of pure, unadulterated darkness of black metal, energy of groove metal, climate and heavy melodies of doom metal and absurdly low-tuned notes. "Through Darkness Towards Enlightenment" has five tracks of melodic trance with amazing vocals that will take you to another dimension of modern metal. The band is a conglomerate of experienced professionals focused on one common goal - bringing our vision to the masses.” The album has five songs.

“Through Darkness” is first. The spacey keyboards are bit of a welcomed surprise in their sound, which is a mashup of the heaviness of Deathcore, the distinct cadence and rhythm of Groove Metal, and even some Doom elements. The resulting mixture is aggressive, but also melodic, and the entire song is alive with energy. “Blurred” has a devastatingly heavy bottom end coupled with weighted Djent accents in the guitars, and the backing ambiance give it a VEIL OF MAYA vibe for me. The vocals are so throaty that they tear through flesh like a ray of sun cuts the hanging fog. “Fair Weather Friend” has more punishing guitar accents with an expert cadence that is accessible, and the clean vocals and guitar bring another element to the song. You could mistake it for melancholy, but it is in fact a question of deep resolve.

“Ripped Apart” combines many of the elements a Metalhead seeks into a bloody stew that you find yourself going back for…gravely vocals, rich, brutal guitar accents, and even some slices of melody that are used as a garnish. Speaking of melody, their subtle use of it every now and again makes it stand out. “Towards Enlightenment” closes the album, and it has an ominous and monumental opening. From there, it’s a slower groove with clean vocals at times, and you feel the climb building in the music. Enlightenment is reached in the final chorus, where he talks about “crossing oceans of time to find you.”
