Dead Come To Dance
Supralunar

From the EPK: Stockholm hard rock trio SUPRALUNAR will return this spring with their third full-length album, following "A New Hope" (2014), "Ghosts" (2018) and the EP trilogy "Lost & Found" (2022). The new record, "Dead Come To Dance", has been a long time coming. That is not only due to a lineup change, but because the band refused to rush a project that grew more inspired the longer they worked on it. "We like to joke that "Dead Come To Dance" is our own "Chinese Democracy"," says vocalist and guitarist Petri Tuulik. The person that left was long time drummer Johann Enoksson, who did record most of the songs. It took SUPRALUNAR quite some time to find his replacement, a young Japanese drummer called Akane Delle Fave. He has done the drumming on three of the songs, and to be fair, I can't tell the difference between the two drummers.
SUPRALUNAR is a Heavy Rock band from start to finish, with a sideline into Party Rock, as some of the songs on "Dead Come To Dance" will show, starting with the title track. What the band does on this album is pleasant, very easy for the ears and a joy to listen to at a party, or when you're in the mood for some light-hearted entertainment. I purposely use that last word as I feel that as far as I can see and hear it where SUPRALUNAR is concerned, the entertainment aspect of it all is more important than the writing unforgettable or uncompromising music. "Dead Come To Dance" is an album that will fit those who find that they just want to enjoy themselves, and that is okay. A part of the audience doesn't expect or even want more.
What I feel has happened is by taking so much time to finish "Dead Come To Dance" SUPRALUNAR has emulated "Chinese Democracy" in more ways than one. I feel that they have been trying to make everything as perfect as possible, thus forgetting that the best albums on the planet are far from perfect, but what they do carry is a boat load of emotions, and they exude conviction and determination. Those are all treats I am missing with this release. Of course I know that a lot of Party Rock and Heavy Rock lovers will disagree with me, but his is how I feel about what SUPRALUNAR has achieved on "Dead Come To Dance".
