Time Is A River And The Waters Are Red
Poseydon

POSEYDON is a Belgian Death/Thrash Metal band, that has been active since 1992. Well, they disbanded in 1999, after only a demo to their name ("Demo 1998"). In 2006 the band reappeared, and "Time Is A River And The Waters Are Red" is the third studio album since then. And I have taken it as my duty to review this one in order to make you aware that this album is available from today (24-4-2026) onward. And I have to say that in the 37 minutes the band is testing your hearing abilities they have a knack to make sure you need to keep your senses up and about during that whole time.
Let me take away any fears about "Time Is A River And The Waters Are Red", as I feel that this is a very good album by a band that is very capable of writing, playing and recording good music. Every track that POSEYDON have added to the album has a solid body, and is blessed to have proper openings, but also satisfactory outros. If I would dare a comparison, it reminds me of the first AMON AMARTH albums in heaviness, in roughness and in intensity. The difference being than instead of Viking Metal, you get Death Metal mixed in with the Thrash Metal. And I do mean that as a sincere compliment.
Of course, with a name like POSEYDON, you will hear some songs that have the seas or oceans as subjects, sometimes even with a comparison to what happens on earth. This only shows that on "Time Is A River And The Waters Are Red" the band is not afraid to touch on current matters that they feel should be addressed. So, you know that musically POSEYDON is okay. How are the vocally? Well, just as good, really. The voice of Tom Lenaerts does remind me of how Max Cavalera sings/shouts/grunts, but with a little more melody in his voice, making it fit perfectly with the music.
As POSEYDON is a band that has been around the block a few times before now, I knew I could expect a band doing it just right. Well, that definitely is true on "Time Is A River And The Waters Are Red", as they have delivered a very solid album this time. And even though there isn't anything new under the sun here, you still will find what you hear to be utterly enjoyable. I know that is what my feelings and conclusions are. But I would understand if you hear more into it than I do, as there is no denying that "Time Is A River And The Waters Are Red" has that kind of pull, like a diamond in the rough.
