Sometimes you can't but applaud an EPK that gets it all right: In short, this is Heavy Groovy music in Swedish. But it is also much more than that. FARAJ RISBERG ROGEFELDT present a sound that is clearly rooted in bluesy rock from the 60's and 70's, but which also has influences from prog, psychedelia, soul, and several other genres. It goes from rock hard riffs to atmospheric harmonies; from catchy choruses to challenging jams; and from familiar rhythms to unexpected grooves. Because that is exactly what you get on your plate when you start listening to this self-titled debut album. and I have to day that "Faraj Risberg Rogefeldt" is a very welcome diversion form all the heaviness I have been listening to and reviewing lately.

And if you're asking about the fact that this is all sung in the Swedish language, you need not worry. I don't care for one bit. Yes, of course I would like to know which subjects FARAJ RISBERG ROGEFELDT touches upon throughout the whole album, but by the way the lines are delivered and pronounced you can almost feel the kind of atmosphere or emotions the band is trying to convey. And by singing in their own language the band has been able to transform "Faraj Risberg Rogefeldt" into a real wave of feelings, a rollercoaster ride that is both relaxing and exhilarating. And even though the lyrics are very much prevalent, they always come second after the music.

What pleases me even more with this kind of laid back heavy Rock is that although the music is already written and thought out, the way they play it whilst recording you can feel that they have been given a bit of free reign as how to fill certain spaces, how to incorporate a bit of free jazz into the mix. And when a band like FARAJ RISBERG ROGEFELDT then hands you eight bloody good songs to listen to, you have no other option but to like what you hear on "Faraj Risberg Rogefeldt". And I do realise that this is  a debut album, but it is an impressive, one that should be noticed by a large audience of Rock enthusiasts. I bet that if you ever get the chance to see this band live, they will be even more generous with their ad-libbing, will have you swaying along with their sounds and songs, and you will enjoy this to the fullest. Oh, and please, can someone wake up and sign these guys?!!!
