At the end of the 80s and beginning of the 90s, that entire serious and even sad aura that permeates Metal was blown apart. It was the coming of those first comic bands, those with funny lyrics or hilarious visual approach. Obviously it is a part of Shock Rock thing, but one of those who earned a lot of respect on those days was the North American act GWAR, for being extremely nauseous and bloody on their live shows, but hilarious on their visual and even on lyrics. No one could take them seriously, because that theater was great. And it is truly good to see that these maniacs are back with one more album, called "The Blood of Gods".

Their main style is the same: a vigorous and strong Hard 'n' Heavy Metal with very catchy choruses, fine guitars and heavy rhythmic work from bass and drums. Obviously you'll feel a raw energy and some bits of later Thrash Metal from the 80s on their musical work. But it's truly good, and the band is truly in form to unleash another attack on human race, especially on those conformists of "traditional family" and who keep on the annoying theme "God bless America". Blood is what these guys what to share with you, so take it! Ronan Chris Murphy is the guys who produced, recorded, mixed and mastered "The Blood of Gods", and he kept the sound quality heavy and abrasive, filth and raw in a way that you can assimilate what the band is playing. Be prepared, because the sound quality fits perfectly on the songs, and these barbarians know how to make good use of it. The cover art created by Simon Bisley is really very good, matching in the ideas behind the album's lyrics.

If you think that the quintet lives off their past, you better think twice, because "The Blood of Gods" is an excellent album, with all the songs being precious. But the nasty and easy to understand "War on GWAR" with its excellent guitars, the catchy heavy melodies of "Viking Death Machine", the Thrashing riffs and great aggressive vocals shown on the hilarious "El Presidente" (I believe that Trump's ears are burning after that), The Heavy Metal/Punk mix in MOTORHEAD's way shown on the perfect "I'll Be Your Monster" (what amazing raw energy that flows from this song), the charming rhythm of "Swarm", the abuse of weight on the comic "Death to Dickie Duncan", the fast and nasty vocals and moshpiting energy that permeates "Crushed by the Cross", and the funny and heavy "Fuck this Place" are their finest battles on the album. But as all rawness has a root, these hounds of Hell unleash a very good version for AC/DC's "If You Want Blood (You Got It)". Even after the loss of Oderus Urungus on 2014, the band is still excellent as always.

If you're a conservative dummy, try to hide, because the Scumdogs of the Universe are back to rip your guts out, eat and burp in your face. But if you're a Metalhead, they'll do the same.
