Faraj Risberg Rogefeldt - Faraj Risberg Rogefeldt
April 24, 2026
Sometimes you can’t but applaud an EPK that gets it all right: In short, this is Heavy Groovy music in Swedish. But it is also much more than that. FARAJ RISBERG ROGEFELDT present a sound that is clearly rooted in bluesy rock from the 60’s and 70’s, but which also has influences from prog, psychedelia, soul, and several other genres.

coffret de bijoux - lose myself in you
April 22, 2026
I've been eating a lot of tinned fish recently. I started with tuna, then salmon (the best), and recently I tried some sardines with preserved lemon. I've really been enjoying myself on this fish journey, and I'm having a similar journey with Alice Simard's metal projects, this here being my fourth.

Necronomicon Ex Mortis – Zombie Blood Nightmare
April 20, 2026
“Zombie Blood Nightmare” delivers classical Death Metal in the tradition of the 90s, but with a strong melodic component.
review
Deathraw - Reduced to Ashes
April 19, 2026
When I start listening to what DEATHRAW is giving me on “Reduced to Ashes” it is very obvious that they chosen to stick to Bay Area Thrash Metal musically.
review
MIRE - Pale Reflection
April 19, 2026
More chugs than a frat party hazing session.
review
Steve Blanco - Shadow Arc Suite
April 13, 2026
Take this rating with a grain of salt... I still don't know what's going on.
review
MagnaCult – Lucis
April 13, 2026
“Lucis” is a fine blend of Groove and Death Metal with focus on powerful guitar riffs and aggressive vocals
review
Silaera - An Aberration of the Void
April 11, 2026
I was literally wincing and white-knuckling out of pure intensity. Hoe-lee shit!
review
Voidchaser - Insterstellar I
April 11, 2026
I'd love to listen to a second part of this Insterstellar series, but for me to really love it, the mixing HAS to improve.

Conjurist - I am the Earth
April 5, 2026
Do you like Gojira? Meshuggah? Alcest? Fallujah? Pallbearer? Converge? Mastodon? Acid Bath? Well, if you're like me, currently drooling over this all-star FFO lineup, get ready for Tennessee's own Conjurist, who believes he's right up our alley.

Vitrified Entity - Imum
April 2, 2026
Yes, those are blast beats. Yes, they are fast. Yes, that guitar solo took a minute and a half. I get it!

Endless Curse – Disgusting Existence
March 24, 2026
ENDLESS CURSE released a decent EP. The songs on “Disgusting Existence” are raw and aggressive. The Death Metal sound is direct, very simple, and without any technicality.

Ticket to Nowhere - Fractals
March 21, 2026
In Colorado, there IS a town called "Nowhere." Why are these Swiss guys selling me tickets to the US? I live there, dammit.

Geoff Tate - Power
March 20, 2026
Hop in the DeLorean Marty and set the Flux capacitor to May 3, 1988, we’re headed back to pick up where musical history was forged, circling once more around to Nikki, Sister Mary and Dr. X. as the OPERATION MINDCRIME chronicle continues, but this time, with a dark unexpected twist.

DAZR - Another Lie (single)
March 10, 2026
Like the hot girl at the bar that teases by showing just enough skin to keep me buying her drinks, DAZR gives us just enough skin with their latest single “Another Lie” to keep me buying them drinks in anticipation of their upcoming album,…yep, I fall for it every time.

I am quite a lapidarist when it comes to the musical jewels of Serbia.

Moon Tooth - Bastard EP
March 7, 2026
Just like smoking your first cigarette (don't do that, by the way), my first experience with Moon Tooth left me periodically satisfied. The alt-prog sensibilities grabbed me, but unlike the aftermath of a smoke, I never got hooked, and I virtually never listened to the Long Island league again.

Tardigrade Inferno – Hush
March 2, 2026
“Hush” is a melting point of different genres and vibes, including progressive Metal, Groove Metal, but there are also a few Punk and Alt-Metal vibes present

For homework, go read Dune or some other popular space novel with this playing in the background, and write a five-paragraph essay on your thoughts.

Fox Paradox - Echoes Of The Hunt
February 26, 2026
When I picture a pizza, I envision a couple of different toppings and a nice, consistent dough. Hopefully, this LP is like a pizza: a couple of different toppings (genres), but a consistent underlying theme (dough). I'm very hungry, if you couldn't tell.

Fordity - Ritus Panoptis
February 24, 2026
Fordity's "Ritus Panoptis" did absolutely nothing for me as a listener, but I'm glad Fordity got some anger out while recording it.
review
Falchi - Solace
February 23, 2026
These instrumental progressive metal artists seem to have formed a tight-knit community with their colorful album covers and relentless shredding.

Warp Rite - Of Blissful Strife
February 22, 2026
I like the idea of "Of Blissful Strife," but I don't really like "Of Blissful Strife."
review
holotropic - individual
February 22, 2026
It's a different kind of adrenaline rush I get when I see a band cite a philosophical work at the bottom of a lyric sheet.
review
Epinikion – The Force Of Nature
February 22, 2026
“The Force Of Nature” offers traditional symphonic Metal with the emphasis being on “symphonic”. The orchestral arrangements are always present, but there is a good mixture of heavier, guitar-driven songs, and tracks where the orchestral arrangements are more prominent
review
Lightning Strikes - The King Is Victorious
February 19, 2026
While it's possible to pull off heavy metal in the current age, "The King Is Victorious," with its Duolingo sentence-like song titles, masterbatory guitar solos, and drawn-out compositions, falls flat.

Metalodon - Indestructible
February 11, 2026
You know that feeling when you see an album cover, and you just sit there knowing that the music inside is going to be bad or at least entertaining?
review
Buried - Imagined Deformation
February 9, 2026
"Imagined Deformation" is a technically proficient, brutal death metal album, but most of its instrumentation is simply not to my taste.

Skyclad Cult - Many Will Never Know This Freedom
February 6, 2026

What Will Be – Primordial
February 4, 2026
I have to say that even though this isn’t even close to my cup of tea, there is no denying that WHAT WILL BE exists of four very good musicians who really gel well together. They know how to complement each other in such a way that it makes the songs sound very good indeed.
