Scarab
SCARAB
- the Egyptian Death Metal band counterpart to the mighty American Death Metal trailblazers:
NILE
delivered a groundbreaking 3rd album last month entitled:
"Martyrs Of The Storm".
A blisteringly creative record that showcased pandemonic mayhem while delivering conceptual storytelling stability that amalgamates harmonically deadly rituals with pile driving dynamics, and a barraged frenzy of distinctively distinguished chaos that rollicks through the Egyptian landscape like a bulldozing berserker in their own trademark style. Today,
Metal Temple
writer
Craig Rider
got to question this remarkably splendid quintet who really surprised me with this tornado of destruction and Egyptian myths of legendary metal madness.
Ron Vanacore
Curse the Son
CURSE THE SON
is a power trio hailing from New Haven, Connecticut, US. They formed in 2007 and have since released one EP and four full-length albums. Their latest album,
"Excruciation,"
was issued on June 12, 2020 on Ripple Music.
Gary Hernandez
, staff writer for Metal Temple, caught up with founding member Ron
Vanacore
for an in-depth discussion about their latest album, history, evolution, and future.
Mike Alvord
Mindwars
Hard deeper thoughts regarding what has been going on, fear of possible futuristic scenarios that may occur to the worldwide social order, all are relevant. However, perhaps it would be best to focus on how to make things better other than find the negativity element in everything. Of course, it is an effort, motivation in need, but perhaps one day someone would actually be able to influence upon that path. In light of the new Mindwards album, "The Fourth Turning", Steinmetal had a long chat with leader Mike Alvord, ex-Holy Terror, about stepping out of negativity, philosophies, the new album and more…
Lary Dean
Trytan
Trytan or To Reach Youth Through The Almighty Nazararene as the anachronism profounds are a Christian Trio soul bent on service. It has been nigh three decades since their last masterpiece - "Sylentiger". However founder and main songwriter Lary Dean, along with Eric Gilette from The Neal Morse Band and Jim LaVerde from Barren Cross are here to soon deliver their new astounding Opus: "Blood Of Kings". Michael Francisco spoke with Lary about his Ministry, his love for Motorcross, the new line-up and all things Mettle. Lary Dean has truly composed a Godstorm! Each Revelation song is a mellifluous masterpiece of music. Take cover, because Mr. Electric is the Celestial Messenger reaching out to a million hearts in hope of helping them to find meaning, purpose and salvation.
The Death Wheelers
The Death Wheelers
THE DEATH WHEELERS
recently released their new album, titled
"Divine Filth." Metal Temple
writer
Dani Bandolier
recently had the chance to catch up and interview the band, and here's what they had to say.
Tomas Åkvik
Lik
Is mankind like fish in the pond, sheep under someone's flock, always seeking to be led while not trying to think for themselves? These questions and wonderings have been asked for years, with different opinions altogether. However, there have been too many examples that people just follow. Coloring the world with blood and guts, the Swedish Death Metal old schoolers, Lik, have been busy with their next blood gushing putridity, "Misanthropic Breed", showing the gruesome other chick of mankind. Steinmetal had a chat with Tomas Åkvik of the band regarding the new album, points of view regarding Covid-19 and people, the band's Death Metal doctrine and more…
George Charalambous
Winter's Verge
To be more than mere simple, or overly complex, to reach a dramatic climate that would sweep listeners off their feet, and ears. To take on a written story and make it larger than life. Now that is a task that most aren't really willing to take. It might be risky, a lot of work, yet there is a good chance that the outcome will be exhilarating. Winter's Verge from Cyprus always had a special relationship with concepts, yet with their new "The Ballad Of James Tig", it became a cinematic event, a soundtrack to be remembered. Steinmetal talked with vocalist George Charalambous about this profound venture and the road towards the album's completion and fulfillment

Spanish Melodic Death Metallers
LINED
release their sophomore album "
Soulcrifice
" on June 12th, 2020. Today,
Metal Temple
writer
Craig Rider
have the opportunity to review these metal maniacs in question of the new record here's what he asked.
Jurgen Breforth
Mad Max
At the end of it all, the roots matter, and it is always great to come back to. The public might have an opinion that would draw to the decision to head back to the past, however, it is also an inner feeling, an urge to set it to a sort of back on track. Mad Max, from Germany, clocking over 35 years, made it happen with their new album "Stromchild Rising", revamping the old flame of the 80s, further igniting it with gasoline. Steinmetal had the chance to talk with the founder, Jurgen Breforth about the new release, the sensation of the 80s, inspiration and hope, and more…
John Gallagher
Raven
Into the heart of the city, into the place where everything started, into what became slowly and easy, until the eruption, the Metal city. Sounds quite iconic, almost Sci-Fi in orientation, yet it is pretty much real. However, it was a long time ago, and not in a galaxy so far away, yet actually decades ago in the 70s where British Metal was consumed. Raven, one of the premiere Heavy Metal bands of that age, were busy crushing clubs with their stage antics and roughed up music. In 2020, as if time never had an effect on them, they burst with "Metal City", armed by a new skinman and wholesome of energy. Steinmetal had the honors talking to bass player, high pitch sonic, John Gallagher, about the new album, pandemic, new man, noodles and more…
Joakim Antonsson & Henri Heikkinen
Trident
From the cold North, inspired by frost, mysteries, myths and legends, some history to put in the mix. Venturing beyond space and time, as if time was never really an element a restricting issue. It is not as if they pioneered in, most of them at least, but the Swedish Black / Death Metal members of Trident, have been confident, patient and after twists and turns, returned with "North", simply put. Steinmetal had a talk with Joakim Antonsson & Henri Heikkinen about the new chapter for the band, the new album, musical progress and more.
David White
Heathen
When it comes to breaking the silence, all hypnotized victims of reception know that only one voice will set them free and that is David White from Heathen! The evolution of chaos continues as the band will soon release their first studio effort in over a decade. This Technichal Thrash Guitarmony is the "Baby" of Mastermind and Manager Kragen Lum, who has dedicated his life to keeping Heathen relevant, so they would not simply fade away. Michael Francisco had the distinct honor to speak with David who once fronted another one of his favorite acts in Blind Illusion. They chatted all about the "Glory Days". They discussed the addition of a new drummer and bass player and even the tragic fate of past bassists, several who are now dead and gone. Michael also realized that Heathen are truly controlled by chaos since Covid-19 has caused such calamity that these collective members - widespread across the USA - have not played a single gig nor even been able to rehearse to promote: "Empire Of The Blind".
Bull Royce
Chemical Way
CHEMICAL WAY
is a young upstart Thrash Metal band that has been doing waves since 2012. They are without a doubt a band that will breakthrough and might be the next Montreal band to go abroad. They have the talent and drive to make it so and they can rival bands like
HAVOK
and
WARBRINGER
. Their unique blend of comedy and Thrash Metal has not been unnoticed and they have a cult following. Our writer
Jean-François Poulin
had the privilege of interviewing
Bull Royce
, lead singer of local of the band.
Dan Watson
Hexx
Learning from what is deemed as mistakes, only to come back a winning team with a spectacular effort in hand. Now that is how you do it, some might not check within and consider making changes just because of matters of ego. Gladly that the Bay Area longtime bashers, Hexx, wanted more out of themselves, even if their record shows that effort is one of their names. Taking on the Metal scene by storm with an old school banger, "Entangled In Sin", things are going to heavy, nasty, non conformistism and somewhat brutal. Steinmetal had a chat with the longstanding Dan Watson regarding the new album, anti-religious philosophy, capturing the new Metal scene and more…
Daniel Thor Hannesson
Cult Of Lilith
It is not a question of sanity or insanity, it is a question of daring, going forward, willing to take the next step and reach new levels that some could only dream of. If the ability and motivation are there, who is to stop a monster from becoming a full blow behemoth? No one, and that is a fact. The Icelandic Extreme Metal stalwarts, Cult Of Lilith have only just begun to show their worth within the world of Metal and progressive musicianship. Other than technical aspects there is actually something beating down there. With the release of the debut "Mara", a story of nightmars, Steinmetal had a talk with founder Daniel Thor Hannesson about getting the new deal with Metal Blade, the new album of course, progression and out of the box thinking.
Dirk Kennedy
Hittman
Wow, it has been a while, and to be honest, even though some might say the timing isn't that hot, needless to say that their comeback was needed. The 80s Heavy Metal starlets, Hittman, return to the Metal scene bounded by their past heritage, sending a message that their will be done, the 80s will return, and strong. Due to the comeback album, "Destroy All Humans", signed to the Greek No Remorse Records, Steinmetal had the privilege to talk to vocalist Dirk Kennedy about the past, the return, the new album, the current scene and more…
Artur Almeida
Attick Demons
Between horrific tales and historical facts, between darkness and light, all are coming together nicely when finding the twist. Metal music has always been into the Occult and Horror, yet also finding its way into storytelling and reminding the listener of historic events, which some made quite a difference. The Portuguese Heavy Metal band, Attick Demons, surged in order to prove their powerful mindset and great talent at coming up with songs that would win one over. Steinmetal had a chance to talk with vocalist, Artur Almeida regarding the band's new album, "Daytime Stories... Nightmare Tales", the signing with a new label, a little lyricism talk and more…
Greg Mackintosh

Sinisha Mladenovick & Dragica Maletić
Aurium
In these bleak times, now more than ever, creativity and passion are essential to maintaining sanity and achieving moments of joy in life. As a music enthusiast, the one thing that COVID-19 has not affected is the myriad of new music being shared around the world. Even in places where the metal scene is on the small side, bands like
AURIUM
from Serbia are blazing their own path forward and writing music that is powerful, emotional, and undoubtedly beautiful. Evolving into a more gothic symphonic sound on their second full album, "The 2nd Son",
AURIUM
wears their heart on their sleeve, opening up to the world and inviting them to experience the tragedy of life that is felt so richly in their music.
Metal Temple
writer
Joseph Brewer
conducted a two part interview with members of the band to find out about the inspiration behind the album and about their approach to music. Part one is a video chat conducted with newly appointed lead singer
Dragica Maletić
with part two being a written conversation with

mastermind and keyboardist,
Siniša Mladenović.

to discuss the project's latest album, history, evolution, and future.
Nige Rockett
Onslaught
Uk Thrashers Onslaught have endured for nigh 4 generations. The founding force of guitarist Nige Rockett's sick, sect, F'n stick to your guns attitude is the reason why! His Thrash till death mentality is the damned soul purpose he signed the contract in blood which has allowed him and his band to persistently abide by the sounds of violence and terror. The strike fast, strike hard punishing, pugilistic power that Onslaught creates is the rationale behind why we all are ensared by their Power from Hell! With new vocalist David Garnett the band have matured and endured despite the departure of Sy Keeler. Michael Francisco spoke with Nige recently to discuss the recording process of Generation Antichrist, the integrity of its founding member, the "newer", but still brutal sound of the band, and most of all why fans of Onslaught are still after all these years loyal, but in search of sanity.
Remo Broggi
Messiah
The past still lives in the present, and it has various shapes and heads. No matter how far mankind will advance in technological aspects, it has aspects that will take even more time to change, to re-evaluate early perceptions, to escape harsh thought patterns that can't be considered as true or even logical nowadays. Not that is a challenge. Coming back after nearly two and half decades, the Swiss Messiah are still angry and lash out at the very foundation that has been corrupted and abused. Due to the release of their new "Fracmont", Steinmetal had a chance to talk to guitarist Remo Broggi about the experience surrounding the album, Covid-19 experience and effects, and more…

Ron Merz
Bloodred
Dark thoughts, humanity in peril because of itself, sometimes for a normal person that is too much to bear, and needless to say that each to his own with personal problems and issues. So can a person really cope with it? Professionally perhaps? Still categorized as somewhat unknown as people are different from one another. Bloodred's Ron Merz took a long stride through the darkness of man and he found some things, which some were known and some less confronted with. Unraveling his new album, "The Raven's Shadow", a blackened tale was told and Steinmetal had the chance to understand Merz' vision, musical direction and more…
The Reverend Johnny Potatoes
Black Tractor
BLACK TRACTOR released their debut EP back in 2003. Today lead vocalist The Right Reverend Johnny Potatoes takes the time out his schedule to speak to Metal Temple Co-Editor In Chief Jojo Rocket Queen Hamilton about the latest album & more.
Geoff Thorpe
Vicious Rumors
As it appears, mankind has been celebrating its own decay, and thinking about, since nearly forever. One just cannot put a finger on the first day the festivities started. Perhaps since the dawn of time when the first human being was killed? Maybe so, but this mess has been growing and growing, with a few stops, but it is still there, touching our souls on a daily basis. Even if the topic is grim, the music isn't. Bringing back the true form of Metal into recognition, there is always Vicious Rumors to remind it for all. Coming about with the new in line scorcher, "Celebration Decay", Steinmetal had the profound pleasure to talk to Geoff Thorpe, leader of Vicious Rumors, while not trying to be a fanboy, about the new album, philosophy, a little Covid, new members and more…
Mario Haui Haueis & Martl Storch
Silius
Let the good times roll, I guess most people nowadays wish it was possible as the current pandemic has been eating away the good from the times. However, folks have to go on, and so in the music business. The Austrian Thrash Metal machine, Silius, are furious due to the situation that has been on for the past several months, yet also pissed off at the aspects that society somewhat hold dear, or not? Coming in hot with "Worship To Extinction", signed to a new label as their new home, Steinmetal had a chance to talk to Mario Haui Haueis (Guitarist) and Martl Storch (Bass) about what really went on within the creation of the new album and their personal experiences
Marco Feltrin, William Ribeiro, Mat Maher, Colum Cleary, Niall Scallard
The Risen Dread
THE RISEN DREAD
are a Death/Groove metal band from Ireland with some members coming from Brazil. Ever since they burst onto the scene here in Ireland they have taken the place by storm and are quickly rising to become one of the biggest acts in metal in Ireland. 2019 saw the release of their debut E.P,
"Delusions",
which garnered rave reviews from everywhere including ourselves here at Metal-Temple who gave the E.P 7 out of 10. As a live act they have been described as a force to be reckoned with by commanding the stage with their presence with the crowd just eating it all up, and even got through to the semi-finals of the Metal to the Masses competition (which was then cancelled due to Covid-19).
THE RISEN DREAD
are made up of
Marco
(vocals),
Will
(guitar),
Mat
(bass),
Colum
(drums) and new member
Niall
(guitar). 2020 was set to be a big year for them with a European tour which unfortunately got cancelled due the Covid-19 pandemic. But like mentioned before they got a new member joining the band and signed a record deal with Wormhole Death Records with a full length album currently being worked on and to be released sometime in 2021. These guys are seriously ones to watch and big things are coming their way.
Metal Temple
writer
John Foley
recently had a chance to interview the band. So let's jump right into the chat!
Teppo Heiskanen
Domination Black
It is always good to make a comeback, in particular when having a reinforced backing to one's advantage. There are cases where the past haunts, and it has to be met in level, yet, for some it is a sort of a brand new start, an opportunity to come out strong without restrictions, simply making something that would make an impact. The Finnish Domination Black returns to the scene after a while, a different kind of scene, yet a one that accepts it. Pending the release of "Judgement IV", Steinmetal talked to guitarist Teppo Heiskanen, regarding the new album, signing to a new label, and more…
Jean-Michel Volz
Season Of Dreams
Though it has been argued, there are rare occasions where music is deprived of emotions. Even there are examples where it would appear as such, it is absolutely tough to come by a musical piece without a share of the personal state of mind. The brainchild of guitarist and composer, Jean-Michel Volz, Season Of Dreams, has been entangled with his personality and his own reality, perception of life and everything that comes with it, for better or worse. With the band's debut album, "My Shelter", hitting the streets, Steinmetal had the pleasure of talking to Mr. Volz about the band venture, the singer, the emotive music and more…
Renaud Baril
Thrash La Reine
The local scene here in Montreal has been blooming exponentially in the last decade or so. We have bands from every genre making their names outside of La Belle Province ever since the early 1980's. Homegrown talent is everywhere you see , each small venue has some local talent bursting at the seems to show you the fire inside their belly. It's a sight to see and so many new bands are out there ready to get noticed and ready to make their mark in the world of Metal.
Metal Temple
writer
Jean Francois Poulin
had the privilege of interviewing
Renaud Baril
from local Thrash upstarts,
THRASH LA REINE.
They released an EP about a year ago that blew all expectations, Thrash Metal with the touch of Quebec roots.
Beni the Animal
Exit
Uncompromised in sound, attitude, initiative, or any other semblance of approach,
EXIT
, is a band composed of a myriad of intensities and brutal honesties; with the release of their 5
th
studio album,
"Traces Of Human Existence,:
the band wears those virtuous attributes on their sleeve with pride.
Quinten Serna
was given the opportunity to interview
Beni "The Animal" Sax
about the album's release.
Milan Polak
Milan Polak
Milan Polak
is widely considered one of the finest instrumentalist/vocalists working in the Metal/Hard Rock World today; and on his latest release,
"Can't Please Everyone",
shows us again just why that is.
Mike McMahan
was able to catch up with him recently, and they discussed influences, stylistic departures, open tunings and equipment, and playing with some of the music world's elite.
Dave Hill
King
When thinking about it, writing music that is icy in comparison to one's surrounding, which is mostly the opposite, has certain craziness in it. However, it can also be looked into with a different perspective. Whether exploration, imagination or simply wishful thinking, a new being can emerge with such a provocative way to shape thoughts into songs. Australia's long running Black Metal band, King, found the patch between their country's reality and the mask that they have been showing for some time. Following the release of their "Coldest Of Cold" album, the atmosphere heated up and it was time for Steinmetal to talk to Dave Hill of the band about it all. The interview was originally done prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Johan J.J Jonasson
Starblind
True one's self, looking sideways, yet always learning, finding the right angle, the right sound, and there you go, magic happens. Nothing forced, all in a natural. Being highly close in proximity to Iron Maiden never really bothered the Swedish folks of Starblind. Expressing their Metal image in their own way, while taking examples, has been making their work to sound divine over the years. With their gaze upon their new album, " Black Bubbling Ooze", it appears that the Swedes are in the next level. Steinmetal had a go talking to Johan J.J Jonasson of the band regarding what is that black oozing thing all about.
