There are moments when I really hate all the trends and musical trends that existed and still exist in this very moment. I'll probably hate the future trends, because when a band starts to be successful playing a specific musical genre, a swarm of others come, and turns the life of the fans (and of the writers as well) into a living inferno! It's not a matter of being a fan from a genre of Metal/Rock or not, but it becomes extremely boring, a shot in our balls to deal with the same musical genre time and time again!

It's not that MIRROR QUEEN isn't a good band, but once more, lost its track while trying to make their musical work on "Verdigris". It's good, but is common, as many bands from this way to play old musical styles from the past. Their work is based on the same formula that actually is flooding Rock scene: that raw and moldy Hard Rock from the end of the 60s and beginning of the 70s. Being as honest as I can with my words: they aren't bad, but need to improve, because they are as good as the greater part of the bands of the genre. Translating: they are a common band.

The sound quality is fine. On the production, it seems that there were done efforts to keep their sound organic as on those days, but keeping a very good amount of mold, to make their songs thunderous and heavy. But please: six songs lasting more than six minutes each one of them (except for "Poignard" that lasts a bit more than three minutes)? It's truly a boring experience, because they could have done it in a shorter and efficient way. For now, the melodic feeling from "Flying Eyes", the nasty weight of "Sorrow's End/Dark Kiss of the Sun", the good raw and introspective melodies from "Verdigris" and "Curse the Night" are proof that these guys can do better than we heard on this album.

Just more practice can put the band on the trail, so let's hope that they can improve.
