Mother of Millions – Magna Mater
July 13, 2024
More Progressive Metal fans should be aware of this band, and this album especially, because as good as their previous albums were, this one tops them all. The album features illustrious melodies and a stand out vocal performance that is backed with a bottom end that is substantially intense, and what results is a balance that just hasn’t been reached this year.

Glare of the Sun – Tal
July 12, 2024
They remind me of the raw power of SWALLOW THE SUN. There is indeed a juxtaposition with hope and despair on the album, and it runs strongly through every song, creating an endless cycle that the listener can never really resolve. That is the power of good music.

We Broke the Weather – Restart Game
July 11, 2024
My summary of the album is that it is highly personal in nature. Each person who listens to it intently might come away with an entirely different message. I found the sound fascinating, although strange, and I admire their convictions and their talent.

Sig:Ar:Tyr – Citadel of Stars
July 11, 2024
Consider the fact that this album was done by the hands of one person, and that is impressive. He crafted a full spectrum of a tale here that takes the listened on a ride through the annals of time, and into the stars above.

Hemotoxin – When Time Becomes Loss
July 11, 2024
A few things are clear for me after listening to this album. First, the band goes to 11 out of the gate and stays there throughout, uncompromisingly. Second, they clearly have talent, as evidenced by the super-tight musical arrangements. Finally, it’s an ode to some of the forefather of Metal with some modern elements.

Knights Of The Realm – Darker Than Leather
July 10, 2024
With the reemergence of old school and classic hard rock and heavy metal, it’s easy for bands to take the easy road and mimic what worked in the 80’s, so every time I review an album from a band that promises to “deliver new and fresh metal” I am a little skeptical. KNIGHTS OF THE REALM has made that claim with their latest release “Darker than Leather”, so let’s see if they can make me a believer.

Demon – Invincible
July 10, 2024
When a band has been around for forty-five years you just know they are doing something right as in the case of DEMON and the latest release “Invincible” as they set out to prove that there’s a reason for their longevity in this ever-changing musical landscape.

Futuro Primitivo - Declive
July 8, 2024
Clearly, a lot of love went into this album. While out of my wheelhouse, I did enjoy my time with “Declive” and would suggest any fan of thrash, extreme metal, or hardcore give it a shot; I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

review
Hipoxia - Fragmented Revelations
July 8, 2024
Ultimately,
HIPOXIA
’s “
Fragmented Revelations
,” is an album for doom lovers but it also stretches outside the confines of the genre enough to be enjoyed from many different angles and provide a lot of reasons to return to it multiple times. It doesn't feel like a random collection of songs but instead a large, cohesive, sprawling, piece of music.

Tombstoner - Rot Stink Rip
July 4, 2024
This is a very good Old School Death Metal release.
review
Leach - New Model of Disbelief
July 4, 2024
The classic outfit of Swedish Melodic Death Metal can be found on this album, but with modern improvements.
review
Esodic - De Facto De Jure
July 4, 2024

Anvil - One And Only
July 3, 2024
You need to look at ANVIL liker you would at MOTÖRHEAD or AC/DC. They are remaking every album time and time again. They have their formula and stick to it. It is something that you need to know.
review
earthtone9 – in Resonance Nexus
July 3, 2024
This was a solid album, and the fact that all of this sound comes from a trio is commendable. But, there is room for improvement. The band has the talent, and the drive, and a nice sense of melody development. However, if we could hear more of their personality in their music, it could have easily gone to an excellent release or even higher.

The Lunar Effect – Sounds of Green & Blue
July 1, 2024
I have to say, I typically don’t take to bands trying to recapture the sounds of the past, but although that is part of THE LUNAR EFFECT, it doesn’t encapsulate them. Their music is genuine, honest, and full of heart-felt emotions, and they perform it really the only way they know how…with charisma.
review
Wormwood – The Star
July 1, 2024
The entire album is just stunning. Track to track, minute by minute. “The Star” by WORMWOOD is one of my favorite albums of the year thus far. Highly recommended.

Arð – Untouched by Fire
June 29, 2024
The burden it carries reminds me of a grieving widow visiting her love’s gravesite as leaves fall from the trees in late fall. She visits only once a week now, where it used to be every day. No matter how much time passes, the wound still feels fresh. But within the hurt, she finds solace in something greater out there, that you can’t see, but can just feel. For me, it’s an album that highlights the duality and complexity of emotions and the human spirit.
review
Kingcrow – Hopium
June 28, 2024
The album just failed to excite me, plain and simple. Every song was very melancholy, and that stood out even over some Progressive elements. For me, it was the vocal style that kept things from really progressing. Diego has a tender voice with great control, but nearly every song was sung in the same range. It might have been the band’s failure to convince me that led to my perceived downfall.

Vendel - Out In The Fields
June 25, 2024
All in all, VENDEL’s “Out In The Fields,” is a fantastic album takes an old school approach but presents them in a modern enough way so it doesn’t feel like just another SABBATH/MAIDEN/PRIEST worship clone.
