Crematory – Destination
May 21, 2025
This was an enjoyable listening experience, although 12 songs did wear out their welcome just a bit. Many of the songs were catchy, and I love the use of electronica with the dual vocal style. You have to take into consideration the sheer amount of albums that the band has released and how long they have been around. I’m sure this new album will please current fans and probably win them over some new ones also.

Imha Tarikat – Confessing Darkness
May 20, 2025
The album was good. It swam in the swamps of despair, and rose to the peaks of mountains fueled by its anger. The musicianship was strong, but it could have used a little more diversity, especially among 11 songs. Too many of them had a similar sound.

Himmelkraft - Himmelkraft
May 19, 2025
The choice to depart from the typical Sonata Arctica style demonstrates Tony Kakko's desire to explore new musical horizons, resulting in a work that is both bold and personal. With "Himmelkraft," Tony Kakko succeeds in delivering a rich and diverse conceptual album that will appeal to both longtime fans and new listeners.

Hexenhaus - Awakening (Reissue)
May 14, 2025
“Awakening” is the only one of the three rereleases that is benefitting from an extra song, knowingly the demo version of the title track “Awakening”. Was that necessary? Not really. Is it a nice touch? Yes, definitely.

Midnight - Steel, Rust and Disgust
May 14, 2025
. I like the punky attitude of many of the songs on “Steel, Rust and Disgust”, which for me has given me an extra insight into who or what has helped to form what MIDNIGHT has become over the years.

review
Maestrick – Espresso Della Vita: Lunare
May 12, 2025
In sum, their musicianship is out of bounds, ridiculous, and off the charts. The songs themselves are rich tapestries of musical energy, almost like a ball of fire that seems to gain steam with each cycle its roll. There are warm messages of happiness, hope, and an undeniable positive spin on life. This is an album that can lift you up when you are not feeling so amenable to life. Sit back, play it, and end the listening experience with a smile.

Lux Interna – New Wilderness Gospel
May 10, 2025
The deep blue colors and forest landscape of the album cover hold some of the keys to the sound on the album. It might be a reminder of the power of nature, or even its importance. It could be a warning of what happens if humanity continues down the path of destruction. The really intriguing part of the album is how the band fuses a sound from the past with hints of the future. For me, it’s a slow burn, but the more I listen, the deeper the connections.

Im Nebel – Hypocrisis
May 6, 2025
I think it’s safe to say that the album was a bit of a disappointment for me, but like any album, you should listen to it with an open mind and decide for yourself.

Buzzard - Mean Bone
May 6, 2025
I’ll say that traditional Doom fans should be wary of BUZZARD and “Mean Bone”, whilst Folk lovers with a wide angle lens and other more adventurous music lovers will be able to understand and therefore enjoy what is passing through your ears into that massive underused grey matter we call our brain.

The Lord Weird Slough Feg - Traveller Supplement 1 - The Ephemeral Glades
May 6, 2025
THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG makes their music in a way that it will transport you back to the eighties, as their brand of Heavy Metal is heavily reliant on that era. Thankfully they have been able to update their production in such a manner that that hasn’t been stuck in the past. It is very contemporary, without losing the authentic retro feel that really sums up the sound of THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG.

Roxxcalibur - NWOBHM From The Vaults
May 6, 2025
Whatever you might think of compilation albums that are tributes to the past, it is a fact that this is a sure fired way to pique the interest of the people interested, who will take the time and have a good listen. And through this medium, ROXXCALIBUR’s album “NWOBHM From The Vaults”, they will go and look if they can locate the originals, be it physical or digital.

Pyramids – Pythagoras
May 2, 2025
Get ready to test everything you think you might know about blackgaze/shoegaze, or music in general, because “Pythagoras” from PYRAMIDS is one of the most uniquely pleasing albums that I have heard in a while, genres notwithstanding. It stretches conventional boundaries so far, they threaten to snap. There is a bite here as sharp as a viper’s fangs, but I am content to just let the melodies wash over me in the waves that they come.
