Vanderlust – The Human Farm
March 30, 2026
This was a solid release. The band is clearly talented, as we as being meticulous about their songwriting, and it is indeed a polished and mature sound. They don’t let their talent just run loose here, instead, they harness it so that it shines when it needs to, but not interfering with the story, the melody, or the emotional ebb and flow throughout the album.

Defacing God – Darkness Is My Crown
March 30, 2026
“Darkness Is My Crown” is blood-freezing, devastating, relentless, and epic. The album offers a perfect symbiosis of modern Black Metal and orchestral arrangements

Testament, Overkill & Destruction LIVE
March 29, 2026
TESTAMENT delivered a commanding performance that proved, decades into their career, they remain one of thrash metal’s most vital and enduring forces.

Wolfshead – II - Ravings From the Gutter
March 29, 2026
I just can’t find fault what the band is bringing on “II - Ravings From the Gutter”. It might not all be perfect, but it all sounds sincere, exudes the right kind of attitude. There isn’t a dull moment to be heard, so your ears will sharpen their hearing quite a few times, and your brains will try to accept and extort the information at its worth.
review
Melechesh – Sentinels of Shamash
March 29, 2026
This was a powerful album that combined the best of Black and Thrash Metal into a seasoned stew of blood, bones, and tissue. One of the best parts of the album were the heavy bass notes…they really head much of the deep aggression on the album and help it to stay thick. These three songs will burn a hole in your flesh by the end.

A Dream of Poe – Katabasis: A Marriage Among Ashes
March 28, 2026
This was an excellent album. The core of it is Doom, but the orchestral elements add seasoning and flavor to the sound. Miguel’s vocals are also very easy on the ears, and he is able to ebb and flow with emotion along the way. It’s the kind of album that you feel, and not just hear.

Moonlit Masquerade – Wreckage
March 27, 2026
Conclusion I have to give you about this MOONLIT MASQUERADE EP “Wreckage” is that I have become extremely interested not only in this release, but I am very much looking out for anything that they come up with in the future. If they are able to pull off anything in the vein of this EP, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
review
Nighnacht - Limb Service
March 27, 2026
Even though the songs are short and to the point, they do not lack the qualities and traits that you not only expect, but also hope for in a band that is trying to bring Extreme Metal to your doorstep. In that respect “Limb Service” doesn’t disappoint for one second. NIGHNACHT knows exactly what they are doing.
review
Void Monuments – Posthumous Imprecation
March 26, 2026
Overall, this was a solid album. It didn’t necessarily offer anything new to the genre, but it had plenty of element Death Metal fans will enjoy, including crushing riffs, horrid vocals, and harrowing sounds. It’s the kind of album you wouldn’t want to pair for a date with your sister…or on second thought, maybe you would?
review
Malefic Throne – The Conquering Darkness
March 25, 2026
Overall, this was an excellent album. It’s rich with flavor, dark like the void, and crushing for your soul. The band displays an excellent level of musicianship as well. Take a ride into “The Conquering Darkness,” and you may never return the same person.
review
Lömsk – Act II – Of Iron and Blood
March 24, 2026
This was an excellent album, combining some of the aggression of Black Metal with the sometimes doom and gloom of despair. The album expresses deep sorrow, grief, or regret…often in a way that feels emotional and heavy, and that feeling is something you just can’t shake listening to the album.
review
Lysabaerer – Trolddom
March 24, 2026
Overall, this was a very enjoyable album. In the rich history of Black Metal, it doesn’t depart too far from the original genre boundaries, so it should please fans of tradition. At the same time, it explores just enough unchartered territory so that it stays fresh, and modern. Bravo.
review
Xenosis – Hermetic Transmission
March 23, 2026
Overall, the album beats you over your head with a steel boot and doesn’t stop after you are bleeding. They have the technical chops, that is for sure, and although the sound is largely dissonant and sterile, their sense of timing is immaculate.
review
The Scalar Process – Agnomysticism
March 23, 2026
This was an incredible album from start to finish. The sheer amount of intensity and aggression are tempered with moments of pure wonder. The timing they keep…is perfect. It’s one of the best Technical/Progressive albums I have heard in a while, because the band maintains a balance across all of the songs. Arden enough for any Metalhead, and melodic enough for reviewers like me, it’s really the best of both worlds.

Impure Wilhelmina – Le Sanglot
March 21, 2026
This was a very entertaining album that is difficult to categorize. Deeply somber at times, with flashes of hope intermixed, it’s the kind of recording that begs you to keep listening. The more you are drawn in, the more emotions you can hear in the music.

Samurai Pizza Cats - Press Start
March 21, 2026
but after some rigorous research (typing in "Samurai Pizza Cats" into Google), they're named after a vintage anime known for humorous pop-culture joking and fourth-wall-breaking samurai cats who work at a pizzeria (???).
review
The Moon And The Nightspirit – Seed of the Formless
March 20, 2026
Whimsical is the best work I can use to describe the album. The vocals are quite passive, at least the cleans, and they are delivered in a dream-like state, while the harsh vocals are like a burst of frigid air with a deep bite. What makes the album so compelling is how it balances beauty with distance. There’s warmth in the harmonies, but it’s a distant warmth. Beneath it all runs a subtle feeling of isolation, a reminder that for all its wonder, the universe is indifferent. That duality of awe and loneliness intertwined defines the emotional core of the record. Listening demands stillness, patience, and a willingness to sit with both wonder and insignificance.
review
Ram-Zet – Sapien
March 20, 2026
I know that a band wants to start with the one song that is a cut above the rest, that could easily be seen as the best song they have. Well, that is definitely the case with “Zerocane”. This is simply the best track that RAM-ZET has ever produced.
review
Joel Hoekstra's 13 - From The Fade
March 20, 2026
On “From The Fade” all comes together in a very good way. Whether the music is fast and furious, or slow and emotional, it all sounds exactly right. All the right notes are being hit, all the right noises are being offered, and the pristine production makes it all gel in just the right way.

Green Carnation - A Dark Poem, Part II - Sanguis
March 20, 2026
After “Leaves Of Yesteryear” in 2020 and their 2025 album “A Dark Poem, Part I – The Shores Of Melancholia” it is now time for them to give us “A Dark Poem, Part II - Sanguis”. This band from Kristiansand in Norway isn’t just a simple Progressive Rock/Metal band, nope, they don’t have a problem mixing those influences with a lot of Gothic under- and overtones.
review
Mutiilation – Pandemonium of Egregores
March 18, 2026
Overall, this wasn’t a bad album per se, it just stunk too much of the Black Metal bands of the past. The genre had made great strides over the years, but this band failed to take advantage of the loose boundary structures of today.

Fayenne - The Calling From the Depth
March 18, 2026
DSBM is not my cup of tea at all, and rightfully so, because anyone who uses the phrase "cup of tea" isn't meant for depressive suicidal black metal.
review
Shatterheart – Infernal Symphony
March 17, 2026
SHATTERHEART deliver a good and promising debut album. “Infernal Symphony” offers a very good balance between the Metal sound and the symphonic elements. The orchestral arrangements are very well thought through and fit perfectly to the tracks

“Italian Dark Sound” holds together fairly well, and while it wasn’t terribly diverse it does have a few unexpected twists.
review
Nine Orders – Ex Imperium
March 16, 2026
Perhaps my biggest concern about the album isn’t the songwriting, or the musicianship, it’s rather the succession of one melancholy song after another. It keeps the album from really being able to take flight. Progressive music is typically always full of surprises, but this just coasted under the radar for me.
review
Gutvoid – Liminal Shrines
March 16, 2026
Overall, this was an excellent album. At its central core, it’s Death Metal, but there are some tasty riffs and pyrotechnics that suggest this is thinking man’s Death Metal. There are also some moments of ambiance and outright melody at times. Come take a walk with “Liminal Shrines” and see where it might lead you.
review
Karmamoi – Eternal Mistake
March 15, 2026
This was an excellent album. It’s progressive in the sense of some odd chord progressions and a strong sense of timing from the band, but those qualities don’t take over the album. Instead, the band chooses to focus on a strong vocal performance, including building great harmonies.

Korbo – Amnésiste
March 14, 2026
Even for Progressive music, this was a strange album. The best part was their musicianship and willingness to explore. However, the album lacked a cohesive direction for much of it, and the pitchy vocals were a bit hard on the ears.
