Inside The Sickened Mind
Thrasherwolf
I am very much in awe of what I hear, and even though the band isn't breaking any new ground, they are making me enjoy the path they are following right now. And if I have anything to say about it, I would advise any record company to get off their lazy arses and sign THRASHERWOLF a.s.a.p..
Heem
Zwart
The Black Metal these guys play is very, very old school. This is pure Black Metal without any frills, fills or spills. As straight as an arrow and as deadly as sin. And darker than the absence of light.
Split EP
Faal / Verbum Verus
It's never easy to review a spilt EP, as there are at least two bands with different styles that are interacting with each other. In the case of FAAL and VERBUS VERUS, we have two Dutch bands that have been put together, and the message on the back of the sleeve is that this all has been done 'In Memory of Pascal Vervest'. He was one of the guitarists in FAAL and is on the songs that you hear on this split EP.
Meltdown
Axehead
Although AXEHEAD is not one of those bands that will get your heart racing or your blood pressure rise to dangerous levels, they will provide you with enough ammunition to be able to vent whatever emotion that needs to come out. And that is what music is all about, isn't it?
I Am Chaos
Chaos Unleashed
I will have to get to the CHAOS UNLEASHED songs next. They are furious, very much in your face and extremely effective. They don't enter your ears in a subtle way at all, no, they are shot in their with maximum force. You had better be prepared for a full on assault on your senses, as that is what you are getting.

Sing to Me, Sweet Void
Ascian
The Doom sound was more pronounced that the Post sound for me, but that didn’t take away from me enjoying the album. Some of the cleans were a bit pitchy, but you can’t deny the power of the gutturals, tearing hope to pieces in front of your eyes.
Darrkh…It Is!
Aiwaz
Much of their sound is steeped in the Doom genre, but there are also elements of hope mixed in with the despair. What I find tickled me most about the album was how heavy the emotional impact of the vocals was on their sound.
Nordic Gothic
Cemetery Skyline
The album opened up a sense of wonder with music that I haven’t felt for some time. The songwriting duo of Markus Vanhala and Santeri Kallio was as strong as Mikael’s vocals. The songs were beautifully executed, and many of them were very moving. It just left me with a sense of warmth and satisfaction.
Zetra
Zetra
This album is a captivating fusion of retro 80’s nostalgia and contemporary intensity, where every track feels like a neon-lit ride through a dark cityscape. The music features a retroactive aesthetic and anthemic choruses that echo the best of a bygone era. Beneath this nostalgic veneer lies a heavy and modern edge—a fierce undercurrent of powerful riffs and aggressive production that makes each song feel fresh electrifying. It successfully captures the spirit of rebellion and adventure that defined the 80s, while pushing the boundaries of modern rock, and is filled with heart, hooks, and undeniable drive.

Where Gods Fear to Speak
Oceans of Slumber
What makes this band so interesting in my opinion is the complexity of their songwriting. They blend several genres together that, on face value, are difficult to synergize. At times, they border on the pretentious side, but what Progressive Metal band doesn’t? The boldest actions are the transitions, which can be startling, even unpleasant. That quality that they have captured seems to be the exact core of the new album.
The Judas Paradox
God Dethroned
And again, the Dutch Death Metal kings brings us a trul masterpiece!!!!

Hybris
Inerth
This fine mix of Industrial Metal and Groove Death Metal with Doom/Sludge Metal is really what many are looking for!
Non Omnis Moriar
Eregion
Without reneweing the genre, this Italian band shows a good work.
Abyss
Ad Infinitum
A fine mix between Symphonic Metal/Rock with Modern Metal influences.
Descendants of Evil
Upon The Altar
The album wasn’t a total loss, but the best part for me was the way the production created a muddy sound. The songs themselves were not very good, although there were harrowing elements to the music. Unless you are an old school Black Metal purist, there isn’t much new to listen to here.
Ancestral Sounds
Pestkraft
This was a good Black Metal album. It combined many of the elements of traditional FWOBM bands but also struck out on its own path. I just could have used a little more creativity.
Dismantle
Shun
For fans of Hard Rock, I would categorize this as such, but also with a meaner edge, and some Stoner elements. That is neither here nor there, it just helps the listener get a gauge for the music. Much of their sound is rooted in the Grunge bands of the 90’s, but they take it a step further with a snarl and with attitude.
Trenches
Svartelder
This was a diverse plate of Black Metal with a lot to offer fans, and I love how this traditional band reinvented itself to modern times, throwing the blueprint out the window and forging their own path in the genre. There are some nice surprises here as well.
The Memory of Death Given Form

Versus Entropy
Derelict
From Canada comes their new stench of technical death tinged in deathcore with their return to the world of metal.
Adon
Adon
This is one of the best American Black Metal bands that I have heard this year, an award usually reserved for our Nordic and European partners. Black Metal can be very dark, but nothing is as dark as this album. It’s almost as if the pitch black of the night came alive, with more grotesque and twisted creatures than in your worst nightmare, and the album is all wrapped up in a tight presentation that is impenetrable.
Circle Of Life
Victory
ICTORY is able to make all the tunes gel together, making “Circle Of Life” into another album that has me tapping my feet and banging my head whilst trying to type any kind of understandable review. That really is almost impossible, as even my bum is trying to lift itself of the seat, to get me to dance along to the music.
Decimator
Kryptos
The band plays NWOTHM and has no qualms about showing where they have their infuences from. And to be frank, they are plentiful. KRYPTOS isn't exactly trying to hide where they feel the best musical knicking options are.
Done With Misery
Shamash
From KL Malaysia comes a fusion of melodic death and metalcore that is enriched with emotion and layered with dynamic elements.
Light Up The Sky
Sunbomb
As someone who grew up with LA GUNS and STRYPER in the 80’s, I don’t have any need to keep listening to them, or any future iterations of them. Don’t get me wrong, they were both excellent bands, that forged the movement back in the day, and I listened to the shit out of them. This seemed like an odd pairing from the start however, and the music supported that for me.
Opera
Fleshgod Apocalypse
Opera” is symphonic Death Metal at its best and should belong to the album collection of every Death Metal and symphonic Metal fan
Prison Realm
Legionary
“Prison Realm” is like a medal with two sides: crushing and relentless Death Metal, and overly melodic Metal. Both sides do not always fit well together
