Nebulos
Zom
When we are dealing with bands with a Stoner/Groove Metal insight, you must think of names as CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, in the Stoner Rock era (since they released "Deliverance" on 1994). This way of playing Metal is famous, has many fans and still generates many bands still on the present. One of the latest good names is from North American trio ZOM. Their album "Nebulous" is really a very good piece of the genre.
Heavy and greasy, but melodic and with some noisy parts, the trio creates an organic and intense form of music that is aggressive, but adorned by beautiful and excellent melodies. Obviously, their main musical style is nothing new, but the energy that flows from the work and the musical personality that they bear is really something that makes the difference. As we all could expect, the sound quality of "Nebulous" is based on something organic and raw, but in the way their musical work demands. But of course you can understand what they are playing, and the rawness comes exclusively from the instrumental tunes they use. Don't you dare to think that it's something moldy.
The nasty and thunderous "Nebulos/Alien", the raw energy that flows from "Burning", the good introspective melodies presented on "Solitary", the hooking and simple musical arrangements of "The Greedy Few", the slower and acid melodies from "Bird on a Wire", and the aggressive and nervous harmonies of "New Trip" are their best moments. And I didn't mention the best instrumental or vocals parts because the band works as a unity, solid and heavy.
This album is really very good, but their talent wasn't used at its fullest.
