Ataraxis
Zero Theorem
Bands that use a modern Metal outfit with exciting melodies came to life in the last 10-15 years. It's a different Metal approach that many fans dislike (due their radical old school roots, or some ridiculous ideas like this). Personally, I think this evolution is welcome, for now some can complain, but in the future they'll become legends (this happened with Thrash Metal and Death Metal on the 80's). Bands as DISTURBED, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, STONE SOUR, and many others helped this new approach that brought many young fans to Metal. This same outfit is what we find on "Ataraxis", the first EP from Los Angeles-based band ZERO THEOREM.
They uses the modern Metal outfit with charming melodies that comes from Hard Rock, creating something heavy and abrasive, but extremely catchy. It's lovely in the way it is, build with fine melodies that shape their musical work, allowing them to breed some charming choruses and musical arrangements. Yhe modern groove allies with excellent melodies to keep you hypnotized! Yes, it's truly good for our ears. On the sound quality, we can hear that the choice of Kane Churko (who worked previously with PAPA ROACH and FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH) as the producer was a wise decision. The modern sonority bears a clean insight, in a way that all sounds aggressive and comprehensible at the same time.
Obviously that their songs will not be assimilated by all Metal fans, because we all have different musical tastes. But "Euthanize" (fine guitars and deep feeling are presented on it), "Area", "Becoming" (what charming melodies, with some electronic effects that reminds us all of some influence from Industrial Rock on their work), the explicit aggressiveness of "Rorschach", the introspective approach of "Ataraxis" (besides some aggressive parts arises on the middle of the song), and the accessible "Low" are fine proofs of a new and good name that is coming to conquest many fans. ZERO THEOREM is really a good new name, and deserves to be heard. So listen to "Ataraxis" as loud as you can.
