In the 80s, Seattle (USA) was a city with a strong Metal scene where many legendary bands arose; some of them are still active. Names as QUEENSRYCHE, METAL CHURCH, SANCTUARY and many others are known for all generations of Metalheads since they came with their earlier works. And that scene is still fertile and strong, as the quintet ZERO DOWN. "Larger Than Death", their latest album, is here to testify my words.

We can say that they are a Heavy Metal band (inheriting some musical aspects from NWOBHM and earlier US Metal) with some influences from Punk Rock and Hardcore, as its members are veteran musicians from these musical scenes. It's melodic and hooking, but bearing a good amount of sound aggressiveness, and besides we could say that we heard bands playing in the same way, these guys really have guts to make something really personal and very good!

From the sound production of "Larger Than Death", they got a very good sound quality. Earning harsh instrumental tunes that don't damage their melodies, and using of a clear approach to make their music comprehensible to our ears, the album can be really enjoyed by all of those who hear it out loud. But be prepared to feel the walls of your house trembling!

Musically, they show a very good work, and this album will stay playing for many days, because you won't feel bored or tired of it so soon. Songs as the nasty "High Priestess" (that uses a slow paced tempo, with very good vocals using nasty tunes), the Hardcore/Punk approach on the rhythm of "Lightening Rod" (very good and simple guitar riffs), the extremely hooking and funny "Racoon City", the nasty and charming "Western Movies" (very good work from bass guitar and drums, using a Punk Rock approach in many parts), and "Lone Wolf" are here to take you by assault, not even asking if you want to be taken. It's by force, but be sure you won't complain for this experience.

"Larger than Death" is a very good album, bearing the Seattle Metal DNA (and nothing to do with Alternative/Grunge Rock).
