When some bands started to create musical experimentalisms on Death Metal on the 90's, there were a lot of complains of those fans used (and addicted) to the old formulas. But even with tons of complains under their heads, and floods of tears of no acceptance, they went on, and created new subgenres into Metal. One of them is Djent Metal, a brutal and oppressive style, keeping the aggressiveness of Death Metal, but going into a more technical and abrasive sound, especially on guitars, using 8-strings guitar to obtain a more powerful and low tune sound. And going forth into experimentalisms is North American band WOLVES, that comes again with their new EP, "Gloom".

Abrasive, their music is a wise mix between Djent, Deathcore and modern sounds, and using a purely technical insight that really binds us all to their music. Even with this technique, it's catching, and once understood, twice addicted. They use very good vocals that use harsh screams and guttural grunts, extremely technical guitar work on riffs, and an almost Jazz insight on bass and drums, but keeping the rhythmic session as heavy as they can (and this means really heavy). It's a different form of playing Djent, so Big Daddy here thinks he find something new.

The quality in terms of sound is almost perfect. They really got a quality that can make their music sound abrasive and heavy, but the clearness allows us to understand what they are playing with no problem at all.

All the six songs are fine, with some surprises to all the ones who hear this EP carefully.

"Haunt" is a slow song, with an abrasive and torturous technique, seeming that some Jazz music elements entered the song, with perfect vocals and riffs. "Haunt" is another assault with slow paced tempos, but with a powerful work done by bass and drums, and some catching moments on vocals. "Lucid" is a long and tender instrumental, that got heavy near its end, with very good work done by bass guitar and drums one more. "Aura" begins melodic and tender, but then explodes with aggressiveness and very abrasive and technical riffs. "Curse" is another thunder made of abrasive riffs and very good vocals (the balance between grunts and harsh screams is perfect, along with some melodic and broken tempos). "Eulogy" closes the EP, with a not so technical insight, but with very good guitars once more.

Dear nephews and nieces, this is one band that you all must know deeper!<
