Warfield - Wrecking Command album cover

As I can observe, the bands who emulate the old sonorities of the past are finally learning that you can't be in the shadow of your influences, but you must bear a personality. Even the beginners are coming showing something that can grab our attention. The German trio WARFIELD is releasing a very good debut album, "Wrecking Command". You can pay attention and detect their musical influences: it's a Thrash Metal band in the same vein from DESTRUCTION, SODOM, earlier KREATOR and all those good bands from German Thrash Metal foundations, along with bits of SLAYER and Hardcore. Although they must evolve and have a ways to go, these young Thrash Metal maniacs have guts and talent! How lovely are their songs...

The sound quality is not in a level that their music deserves. It really is remembering the past, but dry in a way that all the musical instruments can be heard (sometimes, the sound from rhythmic session is weightless). It's truly aggressive, as the band seems to choose to play with an organic set of tunes, what makes "Wrecking Command" sounds straight. But they deserve a powerful sound quality to make the walls trembles. Their music demands it, to be clear, but the work done by Heiko Axel is good enough for now.

10 Thrash Metal torpedoes wait for you all, but the savage "Wrecking Command" (very good vocals, indeed), the brutal and harsh grasp of "Self Deceit Race" (the bass guitar and drums playing are insane, let me tell you), the excellent guitar attack shown on the hooking "Divine Winds", the grasping aggressiveness of "Atomic Strike" and "Vision Genocide" (this last one with a slower insight, what make their work even heavier), and the insane energy that comes from "Martyr" can be said as their best moments. They aren't trying to create something new, but are doing things their own way. So I hope a lot that WARFIELD will mature to crush skulls and destroy many necks. Listen to "Wrecking Command" and see what they have to show.
