War Device - Infinite Chaos album cover

The Metal scene in Greece seems to be extremely dynamic, because we can see things changing a lot in the country in short time spams. If you pay attention, the first wave of Greek bands with name spreading worldwide was in the 90s, when ROTTING CHRIST, NECROMANTIA and VARATHRON started to call attention to the country. A bit later, Death Metal bands appeared, with NIGHTFALL being of the best name in the Greek scene. Now, it's time for Thrash Metal, because it seems that SUICIDAL ANGELS unleashed a Thrash Metal invasion since they started their career. Now, with new promise, we have WAR DEVICE, a very good quintet that comes with their second album, "Infinite Chaos".

They have a way into Thrash Metal that is truly brutal and aggressive, in a format that can remind us from the German Thrash Metal School, but with some influences from older SEPULTURA work (due some Death Metal and Hardcore influences on their sound). Ok, I know that this isn't a new form of music, but the quintet's personality is really strong and different from what I heard before. The band has a sound quality that is raw and nasty, as older bands used in the past. But it fits in their work almost perfectly, allowing them to unleash a violent and aggressive form of music, but with very good taste and a good level of clarity. It's not perfect, but it's very good, because it is what their musical work needs.
Being furious and nasty, sometimes fast and on others slower, they use very good musical elements, and some melodies to bind their features united (their guitar solos show it perfectly). Their best tracks can be pointed as: the ferocity to the bones shown on "Life in Order" (fast and thunderous, showing very good work from bass guitar and drums) and "Taken by Fear" (it begins slow, but explodes with fast speed, and excellent guitar riffs and solos can be heard on this song), the grasping brutality of "Void of Perception" and "Seek No Justice", the Death/Hardcore fury shown on the guitars and vocals of "Within the Violence", the bitter cadence of "Feel the Power" (very good vocals once more and great rhythmic evolution) and "Silent Pain" (this one with some fast parts as well, where guitars rules supreme), and the good technical work of "Divine Hell". But the entire album is excellent.

I truly hope that WAR DEVICE can become a great and recognized band in the near future. But with an excellent album as "Infinite Chaos" under their belt, it's just a matter of time.
