In terms of musicality, many bands come from parts of the world that we never could think. I mean countries with oppressive political regimes and religions, those ones who steal freedom of people. There's no excuse: freedom is something sacred. And when I see bands coming from the weirdest countries, "Big Daddy" really feels happy. And from Kuwait, a country devastated by greed, comes a fine duo, VOICE OF THE SOUL. And besides they are living on United Arab Emirates now, what turn the thing easier to them, we can feel a furious insight on "Catacombs", the band's first album.

The duo focuses its energy in creating a melodic and brutal way of playing Death Metal. But don't be deceived by the label they use, their music is far from it, using some very melodic and tender melodies and arrangements on their music. It's oppressive and abrasive, but with an elegant insight. Translating: It's a very good music to hear!

The vocals use on the great part of time a guttural insight, but on others, clean and tender voices. The guitars play strong and intense riffs, without putting aside a melodic feeling (as you can hear on solos). Bass and drums form a rhythmic basis very good on technique, but giving a heavy weight as well to tempos, and with some good keyboards appearing here and there. So, mixing all these elements, and you'll get what you deserve in Metal terms.

The sound quality is good. Is not some kind of super production, of course, but it's good enough to understand what they're doing, and to feel the abrasive and heavy weight of their music.

The best songs: the slow and abrasive "Perpetual Deception" (very good work on guitars, in a song with a perfect balance between weight, aggressiveness and melody), the catching and well worked "Pendulum" (some moments on riffs reminds a lot something of traditional Heavy Metal), the introspective and tender "Cold Rupture" (a more Progressive Metal song, with clean and melodic vocals), and the dynamical "Defiled".

Fine band, indeed, and hope to see more of them in the future.
