Had you, dear nephews and nieces, sometime in your life, heard an album that, on the first play, you got caught?

Of course this happened with your Ol' Big Daddy here many times on these 31 years in service to Metal and Rock. But some albums really have that special thing that cannot be expressed in worlds, that binds you to it immediately, with no cheap tricks or monkey business. No, only music and you in a strong synergy. Well, my Rock nephews from VEGA, that comes from UK, with their third album, "Stereo Messiah", are a clear case of what Big Daddy is saying.

First of all, their music is a strong and melodic AOR, with great influence from what we can call Arena Rock, with perfect vocals (melodious and very strong), well done guitars (both on riffs and solos), excellent rhythmic basis and keyboards' work, with great chorus (that same ones that you hear once, and start to sing with them on second time). And it's too catching, too hooking, and reminds us that life can offer good stuff to us all. And knowing that DEF LEPPARD's front man, Joe Elliot, gave a song to them to record, is too much my heart!

The sound quality is brilliant, perfect and clear as an AOR album must sound, leaving aside the aggressiveness a rock band would have. But it's just a little detail, the music is what matters. A very fine work of John Mitchell (IT BITES' front man), that helped the band a lot during the recording and who made the mix, and from Harry Hess (who mastered the album on his studio, in Canada).

12 excellent songs are here to be discovered by our senses, but the best ones are the perfect "Stereo Messiah" (great keyboards arrangements and fine vocals. But listen carefully to the chorus), the hooking "All or Nothing" (it can reminds us all of something we heard on DEF LEPPARD's "Hysteria" times, with great arrangements on guitars), the instigating "Wherever We Are" (another great song with perfect vocals and chorus), the high spirited "Gonna Need Some Love Tonight", "The Fall" (this one have an evident touch from old and good JOURNEY on their golden age, where keyboards and chorus are extremely fine), "10 X Bigger than Love" (this is the one that Joe Elliot gave to them and makes a guest appearance on vocals, with a more Hard Rock orientated song, more focused on guitars and chorus. If you pay attention, a North American Hard Rock influence will be clear on arrangements, and DEF LEPPARD claws and fangs appears a lot here), and the party-time Rock "The Wild, the Weird, the Wonderful". And this album is perfect, even on the power ballad "Tears Never Dry" that can cause some nausea in Metal fans (only to those guys who prefers to embrace a beard like guy than a beautiful woman).

Perfection in form of music, and it's not a matter of lucky that they'll be the opening act for Joe Elliot's DOWN 'N' OUTZ tour in the UK next December.
