Unpure - Prophecies Ablaze album cover

What some people label as Black/Thrash Metal isn't merely a mix between the two genres, but a total concept in Metal. It was born due the impact that VENOM had with its three first albums, and with the readings done by KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, SLAYER, CELTIC FROST and SODOM did on their early works, and it means that anyone can do things as wished (and it doesn't need to obey to a model). The genre today is truly going strong and ferocious, as can be heard on the Swedish quartet UNPURE's work. Spin "Prophecies Ablaze" to have an idea of what these words mean. The band has a clear Old School appeal on its musical work, but without filling their songs with mold. Their music sounds alive, ferocious and with energy enough to blast to pieces the VU of your sound devices (as your ears as well).

The band evades the exaggerated technical approach, but works in a way that is what their songs need. Of course the influences of the past are presented on the album (along with Old School Speed Metal touches, as can be heard on some moments on "Small Crooked Bones"). Brutal, fast and catchy, so it's what the doctor said that's good for a healthy life. The band delivered the responsibility of mixing and mastering the songs of "Prophecies Ablaze" to the hands of the Greek master George Emmanuel (the guitarist of LUCIFER'S CHILD, who is known for playing with NECROMANTIA, VALET PARN and ROTTING CHRIST, and as a reputed fine producer). His work shines on the album allowing the band to be fully heard and understood without problems, but with aggressive impact and a rough organic touch.

The quartet shows during "Prophecies Ablaze" that they can bring their music into a Black Metal extreme side or into Old School Thrash Metal as they want, turning thing interesting, especially on moments as "Megalithic Gateways" (a song with excellent technical work of bass guitar and drums, creating fine rhythmic contrasts), "Northern Sea Madness" (an abrasive and fast song, filled with some darkened melodic arrangements on the guitars, and how catchy they sound), "Small Crooked Bones" and "The Witch of Upsala" (both are showing the Hardcore influences of early days of Thrash/Black Metal in many moments, with very good snarls of the vocals), "His Wrath and the Red Soil" (where some old and good traces of MOTÖRHEAD's music can be heard, that fine mix between Hardcore/Punk Rock and Rock 'n' Roll influences), and "Endtime Dictator". Hear and become a fan!

As final words, one can have in mind that UNPURE's name deserves to be respected, as well as "Prophecies Ablaze" shows a rising star in the Black/Thrash Metal scene. Listen to it and praise these madmen!
