Into the Abyss
Unfair Fate
Stockholm, Sweden has its name in Metal's history due the Death Metal acts of the 90s as ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, UNLEASHED, UNLEASHED (all of them having roots on bands as MORBID, NIHILIST and CARNAGE), but today, the number of acts of the city of other Metal subgenres is amazing, what means that Metal is popular on the city. And one more name comes from the underground basements of the city: UNFAIR FATE, a trio that is unleashing its second full-length, "Into the Abyss". The music of the band can be said as a violent and intense form of Thrash Metal with some nuances inherited of Death Metal.
These words can depict something simple or that gives the 'I-heard-it-before-somewhere' idea, but's not the case: the trio's music is plenty of personality, and under its brutal and nasty musical core, a personality is pulsing without caring if something is sounding new or old (and even bearing some experimental moments and groove, as heard on "Altered Nature"), it just exist in the maelstrom of raw energy based on strong and aggressive instrumental lines with snarls of the vocals (from where some of the Death Metal traits flow). It's a very good release, indeed. The album was mixed and mastered by Daniel Gese (who did the sound engineering as well), who created something fiery, strong and aggressive as well, but having in mind that a band of such genre must be clean and defined to a point of being understood by the fans. It's not perfect, but's very good.
All the songs of "Into the Abyss" will be sources of joy and fun for the fans, especially on moments as "Into the Abyss" (a nasty and ferocious song with some breakdowns on its beginning, but soon exploding on aggressiveness, especially due the vocals), "Confrontation" (another aggressive moment, here on a faster way, with subjective melodies flowing on the guitar riffs and arrangements), "Dagger of Lies" (that brings the band into a modern Thrash Metal outfit in some moments), "Pinned by Conceit" (it's that old and good kind of slow Thrash Metal song with charming guitars), "When Silence Falls" (a short song with contrasts between fast and slow moments that can work as a good live song for moshpits), and "Sealed in Darkness". Prepare your necks for the massacre!
"Into the Abyss" is that kind of release that a Thrash Metal maniac must hear, and buy. And UNFAIR FATE is really a name with potential to grow a lot.
