There's an idea that the main differences of the USA and Sweden Death Metal Schools is that the first is derived from Metal (namely Thrash Metal and Black Metal), and the second came from Hardcore (due to the fact that NIHILIST, the Swedish father of the genre, was a Hardcore act that evolved from influences of Thrash Metal acts). In reality, is the USA Death Metal School, the Hardcore influences came due the fact they're already into Thrash Metal and Black Metal (POSSESSED admitted influences of Hardcore bands as D.R.I.). It means that the differences are just due the musicians' personalities. And one can check the influences of Hardcore into Swedish Death Metal on "Sulphurfeast", the latest release of the Swedish one man band UNCHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN.

As the words above states clear, the work heard on the album is a form of an 'updated' expression of classic Swedish Death Metal, as one could make a personal update on what CARNAGE, EDGE OF SANITY, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER, UNLEASHED and others left on their early days. But pay attention: the word 'update' means that the musical work heard here is nothing trying to emulate what's in the past, but it's full of and aggressive energy, and done with personality (and even with some bits of the early days of Gothenburg Death Metal due the care on the arrangements), and of course, it's very good to hear such album.Christian Ludvigsson (the mind behind the band) made the recordings, mixing and mastering of "Sulphurfeast", the final result is very good: something aggressive and that bears resemblances of classic recordings done at Sunlight Studio by Tomas Skogsberg (Death Metal fans will understand the reference), but a step ahead, for it is sounding defined and understandable. And the choice for the tunes of the instruments is really very good.

All the songs are really very good, and the album solidifies the name of the band as strong one into the Death Metal scene of Europe. But to have a better idea of how it's good, taste "Rabid" (a brutal and classic Swedish Death Metal song, but with some unusual arrangements on the rhythms, showing that bass guitar and drums are working in a high level of quality), "Hatevoid" (a carnivore and abrasive moment, with sharp guitar riffs filling all the spaces), "Xul" (the good dynamics between the musical instruments resembles what acts of Gothenburg did on their early works), "Nails Electrodes" (another Swedish Old School Death Metal, with many brutal blast beats), "Deadhead" (very good contrasts between fast and slow parts), "Spirit Flesh" (a mix between Grindcore and Swedish Death Metal elements, but always guided by the band's personality), and "Dead Dull Eyes" (what expressive grunts on the vocals can be heard here).

"Sulphurfeast" is really a very good release to be heard at the loudest volume possible, and UNCHRISTIAN CHRISTIAN is really surprising.
