4 Heads for a Crown
Trash Heaven
Everyone knows that the ANTHRAX's version for "Antisocial", an old song from the French band TRUST was excellent, but few people understand how this song earned much attention for French Metal scene back then. And it's not a surprise that Thrash Metal bands from France have a strong influence from USA titans, especially METALLICA, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX (obviously) and TESTAMENT, so the work of the quartet TRASH HEAVEN isn't a surprise at all, but what "4 Heads for a Crown" shows is a good work, indeed.
Their music is focused on the energy and classic influences from USA Thrash Metal School, as written above, but their main influence comes from the East Coast bands, being a bit more aggressive and fast than West Coast bands. But on their music pulses a strong influence from European Heavy/Power Metal on the melodies (especially on the guitar leads). It's a hybrid, but the formula isn't new at all. But it doesn't mean that their musical work isn't good (it is good, indeed), but the band needs to mature a bit more, because their musical potential is so great to be transformed in music. It's good, but can be better. The production is good, but not exactly what the band deserved. It's truly clean, but in a way to sound dry, it's a bit hollow. Maybe the intention was to be as organic and without modern fill-ins used by many names, but it makes they music sounds poor and (in some moments) lack of the due weight.
Musically, they have a good work that still sounds immature in the way they can. Their musical talent is clear as shown on "Thrashed Heaven" (a fast and aggressive song filled with excellent guitar riffs and leads), the heavy energy that flows from "Beast Inside" (where the traditional Heavy Metal becomes extremely evident, and what a good rhythmic work of bass guitar and drums), the fun Crossover song "Drakkar", the sweet ambiance of both parts of "The Tree of Wisdom" (both extreme versatile songs, indeed, in a unusual Thrash Metal format), the rhythmic variations of "The Maze", and Melodic Thrash Metal attacks of "The Last March" and "Danse Macabre" (this one a very good instrumental). But it needs a more careful insight on their instrumental arrangements, and the vocalist needs to improve his work as well (it's not a bad voice, but it can improve a lot).
TRASH HEAVEN has a good work, indeed, but what is shown on "4 Heads for a Crown" shows a band that can do better than what is on the album. And I'm personally anxious to see they evolve.
