During the early years of the 90's, England gave birth to a band of experienced musicians called KIS OF THE GYPSY, who earned some commercial success. And one of its members is the singer Tony Mitchell, who sang with on Rick Wakeman's solo album "Return to the Centre of the Earth", and worked with names as Alice Cooper, Jon Anderson, ALAN PARSONS PROJECT, and others, and is still extremely active for many years. And as this English workaholic seems to have an endless energy on his heart, here he comes with another solo album, "Hot Endless Summer Nights".

The album can be said as a Hard/Glam Metal release, riding hard on a retrowave into what the 80's music has as its best. Full of melodic hooks (that sometimes are deep into an AOR form), and amazing and wild energy, and with a balance between good instrumental technique with catchy melodies and arrangements, the album can be compared to some classics as "Slippery When Wet" (on the melodic Arena Rock parts) and "Dr. Feelgood" (when things becomes heavier and aggressive), but always in a personal way. And besides it's nothing that wasn't heard before (for those who lived on the 80's and still remember as things were back then), it's very good, tender and was worked with a bold and strong personality. The sound quality of "Hot Endless Summer Nights" is very good, balancing the needed clean sonority with an abrasive touch that boost the heavier moments. But it doesn't mean that's not clear (because the production worked on a wise way to make things be defined as they need to be).

Tony and his comrades are really making very good noise on the album. And just for a first time on it, enjoy a joyful ride on songs as "Hot Endless Summer Nights" and "Can't Fight It" (the balance between Glam Metal and AOR is clear on both songs, and what good work on the keyboards and guitars, as in the backing vocals), the abrasive natural weight of Glam Metal in a DEF LEPPARD form heard on "Blame It On the Rock 'n' Roll" and on "Drowning in a Sea of Paradise" (what a strong work on bass guitar and drums on both songs), the clear 80's AOR/Pop Rock mix that is heard on "Neon Sky" and "Leave the World Behind" (the saxophone parts on this one are great, along with very good vocals), and the grasping heavy weight on the abrasive melodies of "With You in a Heartbeat".

Yes, "Hot Summer Endless Nights" is a release that can be said as an homage to what the 80's showed to the world, but that is still good today. So thanks for such a good release, Mitchell!
