The Ogre - Aeon Zero album cover

Sometimes the writers seem to be late, because we seem to be writing (and in reality, we are) about releases of the past. But there's one thing one must understand: it's impossible to check all albums, EPs, Singles and Demos that are released every day. But when we have them in hands, we must pay our respect to some acts that really are amazing, and the one man band THE OGRE that hails from São Paulo (Brazil) is one of them, as can be heard on "Aeon Zero". This album is a brutal and manic blend between Progressive Death Metal with Progressive Black Metal. Obviously such mix sometimes has the tendency to sounds as Death Metal, on others Death/Death Metal, and it's not empty of some Avant-garde touches here and there.

It's brutal and aggressive with vocals changing from grunts to normal snarls, massive guitars (with some darkened melodic arrangements, as can be heard on "We Ride with Demons"), and solid rhythms created by bass guitar and drums, and some extremely tasteful technical moments. It's an album full of richness, so pay attention to its every moment, besides it isn't complicated or hard to be understood. The sound quality of "Aeon Zero" has the main focus to make the songs understandable for the hearers, evading some models used by the bands of such tendency. But when the band plays in an aggressive form, it's an apocalypse of weight and aggressiveness that drills through the ears. It's what the band's music needs, but it could be better.

More can be expected of the band in the future (its talent is sensible for everyone), but as shown on songs as "We Ride with Demons" (a set of incredible rhythmic shifts and a hooking melodic outfits will conquer the fans, but be prepared for some piledriving done by bass guitar and drums, and what lovely changes of tunes of the vocals), "Crawling Chaos Underground" (it's mainly a Death/Black Metal song, but expected the unexpected in the middle of the song, when a disturbing and introspective part appear, and what great guitar riffs and arrangements), "Datadeity" (this one shows some melodies inherited of traditional Heavy Metal and some Industrial Metal touches, Gothic Rock vocals Avant-garde elements, and it's an amazing song, indeed), "Neon Sun" (this introspective and disturbing set of ambiences shows an experimental Progressive Metal song, showing the rich potential of the band's music), and the disturbing "The Mountain of the Cannibal God", the time is now, the album's here, and the fans will have moments of the purest delight when hearing to it. "Aeon Zero" was released originally in 2021, but it shows how the music of THE OGRE doesn't get old or moldy.
