The Erkonauts - I Did Something Bad album cover

There are bands that create a form of music that can astonish us due its experimental insight. It's because experimentalisms could create something that is truly strange for or senses. But bands as the Swiss quartet THE ERKONAUTS are pretty strange, and a simple hearing on "I Did Something Wrong" can show what my words mean.

They mix a different form of Progressive Metal with Punk Rock influences, a nasty and dirty touch that is really beyond the common knowledge about Progressive Metal styles, but keeping tender and hooking melodies. It's truly weird sometimes, but the more you hear the album, the more you like it, because "I Did Something Wrong" is a difficult album to understand, but as soon as you get used to it, the chaos starts to make sense, and becomes a hooking form of music.

Produced by Drop (bassist of SAMAEL, and former member of SYBREED) made the album's production, and he made a fine work. The sound quality is good, because we can understand the band's music clearly, and the band had chosen very good instrumental tunes. So you'll get the best of their work with no problem.

As Big Daddy here said above, it's not an easy album to be understood, but some of its songs can hook you, as the fast and chaotic "The Great Ass Poopery" (it's filled with intense bass playing, along complex drumming), the hooking and noisy "Tony 5" (with some really tender melodies, and fine guitar solos), the extremely accessible "All the Girls Should Die" with its excellent melodies (and good vocals and guitar works), the noisy feeling of the Progressive "Dominium Mundi" and its excellent guitars, the fine technical and raw melodies of "Hamster's Ghosthouse", the introspective and tender "Your Wife" with its melodic vocals, and the noisy and almost Industrial song "Machine" with its electronic effects.

Listen to it, and have a good trip.
