When we start to hear the Hard Rock and Rock 'n' Roll genres from the 60s and 70s, you know that are common elements between the bands. Of course it's not a sin to be in this way. The greatest sin, as it was in those days and still is on our times, is to have no personality, to be a copy of many things that came before. But even playing such an old musical genre, we can say that the trio TEXAS FLOOD is really very good. Their album "Overworked and Underpaid" sounds extremely good.

It's a Rock 'n' Roll band with many influences from Blues, Jazz and Country Rock, so you can be sure that their melodies are not hard to be understood and the technical work is not as extreme as many could think (except for bass guitar, that really is impressive), and as I told, their melodies will hook you to their music as soon as you start to hear the album. The sound quality is very good. It sounds organic and really clear, without trying to emulate the crude sound from the 60s and the 70s. That's a great point for their work, because they don't try to be what they aren't, and for our lucky, we can understand what they are playing.

For our ears we can say that TEXAS FLOOD is really an honest band. They put their hearts in their music, so we have a great time hearing to songs as "Roses" with its nasty energy and excellent melodies, the bluesy heavy weight "Gambling Man", the accessible and groovy "Up in Smoke", the charming harmonies heard on "Shoot Me Down", the introspective feeling that permeates "Ain't No Cowboy", the Groove/Soul influences on "Hero", and ass kickin' Rock 'n' Roll song "Lucky". But enjoy all the album, for it really is a hooking experience. A pure breed of this form of music is what TEXAS FLOOD is.
