As modern Metal genres became popular for the past 10-15 years, there are some titans defined, or in other words, those bands that inherit a deep respect from public and media due their relevant works. Loving them or not, some of them really did amazing albums, but as happens to everyone, there are those albums that fans and bands want to forget. The best to do: release a good album after the bad one. And SUICIDE SILENCE is back for the attack with "Become the Hunter". The words above mean that their last album, "Suicide Silence" was really a fail for many fans due its more emotional and melodic insight. But it seems that the bad critics put the guys back on the track, because "Become the Hunter" is aggressive to the bones, but still modern and greasy. It's a pure breed Deathcore album that mixes the modern aggressive parts from Metalcore with Death Metal brutality (the double bass drumming is amazing). Yes, it sounds good, great, modern and full of life and energy.

The producer Steve Evetts, who produced with the band previously (on "The Black Crown" and "You Can't Stop Me") was brought back, having the mixing done by Josh Wilbur (who worked with LAMB OF GOD and GOJIRA) and the mastering is signed by Ted Jensen (the one who worked with PANTERA and DEFTONES). The final result is a brutal, modern and heavy sound quality that gives priority to aggressiveness, but never losing the sense of clarity, even with these greasy tunes used on bass guitar and guitars.

As said above, the melodically deeper approach used on "Suicide Silence" was left behind, and fury is the fuel for "Become the Hunter", but with their musical aggressiveness filling all the songs. The heavy load of excellent tempos of "Two Steps" (very good work from bass guitar and drums, who created a technical and smashing-bones rhythm), the grasping brutality shown on "Love Me to Death" and on "In Hiding", the modern and abrasive energy shown on "Death's Anxiety" (very good contrasts using grunts and screams), the interesting gruesome melodies used on "Skin Tight" (the shows very good guitar riffs), and the mastodonic weight imposed by the band during "Disaster Valley" and "Become the Hunter" are the ones who'll delight the fans.

Even if the listener isn't a modern Metal fan, "Become the Hunter" has its charm, but for the older fans of SUICIDE SILENCE, it's a delight.
