I hope that in the future, everybody into Metal and Rock learn a lesson that our founding fathers gave us, and I inherited from them as a proof of deep love and respect for this kind of music: Do not imitate, try to do the things on your own. Once more: what is in the past is in the past. Of course, you can do an old style, but it will demand of you a great effort. This is what expects those in the way of the past. The quintet STRAY TRAIN, from Ljubljana (Slovenia) shows on "Just 'Cause You Got the Monkey Off Your Back Doesn't Mean the Circus Has Left Town" how they need to learn this lesson.

Their main style is that Blues Rock from the end of the 60s and beginning of the 70s. But they still have to put more of them on their work, because it really is near a lot of what LED ZEPPELIN and other names already did. Even being a talented band, this is not acceptable. Their songs are good, filled with feeling and the bluesy scent, but I really can't understand the need to follow the same steps of our forefathers. The sound quality is very good. This is a good point, because they didn't try to sound as those bands of the past, and aren't a wannabe from the end of the 60s. No, their sound quality is modern and clean, and this is very good, because we can understand what they are playing.

Their main problem is on their notion of what they are doing. Their ideas seem to be like "we must offer the music nearest to what was already done", and it's the point they really must change. They must put the cards on the table, show that they really are. And they show that they have talent inside their souls, as songs as "Soulseller" (with that groove that hooks us), the accessible "I Wish I Could Be Free" and "Wander Man", the lovely tempos on "Plastic Princess" and grooving heavy melodies of "Can't Buy Happiness (...Not Even in December)" can state. But they must try to stand away from what already was done.

Maybe next time, they can show who they are...
