Stone Angels - Give in to Temptation album cover

Sometimes, we really need to get back to our musical roots in Metal. This is due to a feeling that we are stuffed with modern bands and musical insights. I believe that every Metallian has deep roots on famous and melodic Metal bands such as IRON MAIDEN, AC/DC, NIRVANA and many others. Sometimes, this experience of searching for our roots, and even for those who never go so far from them, makes many starts work on the same vein of the past. And it's not a mere case for bands like English STONE ANGELS to exist; even with a sound that reflects the past, their album "Give in to Temptation" is a fine experience for us all.

Their musical work focuses the energy in creating a heavy, abrasive and nasty Hard Rock sound in the same vein of veterans like AC/DC (the vocals remind a lot the tunes and way of singing of the master Bon Scott in many moments) and THE CULT, with some moments with the same energy MOTORHEAD had on 70's. But when Ol' Big Daddy here says "in the same vein" does not means "it's a copy" or "it's alike" - no, these angels are creating a personal form of music, with charming melodies and very good taste, and of course, it doesn't seems something moldy or outdated, but pulses with life and hooking energy.

This energy comes from a good production done, surely, that gives the band a sound quality that is clear enough for us to understand what they are playing, but as well is heavy and abrasive the way STONE ANGELS' musical work needs. The album is very good as an entire piece, but their best moments are heavy and hooking "Misplaced Memories" (very good melodies, fine vocals in a simple and charming song), the introspective and deep "Last Goodbyes", and their personal hit "Can You?" (the song for the promotional video, with very hooking tempos, very good chorus and a fine exhibition of the guitars), the delicious "Lines in the Sand", and the "put the house down" Rock'n'Roll "Devil's Grip" (slow tempos and great work on bass guitar and drums, remind something that MOTORHEAD gang done on their earlier years).

A fine work that really inspires our hearts.
