Have you, dear readers, heard an album that made you feel bored? Sometimes, we have to deal with them. No, we have nothing against the bands or their works, but there's a long way between playing music and playing extremely good music. SOOMA is a band that needs to improve a lot, as their first album, which bears the name of the band, is here to prove.

They play a savage and energetic mix between classic Hard Rock with some Punk Rock, Stoner Rock and Post Punk influences. Their melodies are good, the musical ideas aren't bad, but there are a lot of bands doing the same thing, playing in this way. They aren't bad at all, but aren't good enough to be above the greater part of them. It's common, just like that. The sound quality is not the problem. It bears a fine balance between aggressiveness, the raw touch that they need and an organic feeling that permeates their musical work. But it's clean enough to be understood for anyone who hears "Sooma". So, we have no complaints to say about the sound production.

But as we hear their ten songs, we have that same feeling that we heard that countless times before, and in a better shape. Mixing all their musical influences is not the problem, but to bear a musical identity. Songs as "Uncle" with its savage groove, "Kneel" and its good melodies, the Post Punk clear influence that "Misli Teku" and "Joy" show, the aggressive insight of "Cut It Out", and the good technical work shown on "Hesitation" are proofs that they are a talented band, but that needs desperately to do something more personal. They can do a good work, and "Sooma" shows it perfectly. But they need to mature. Just like that.
