Empty Words
Sold
It seems that Metal evolved in a different way in the Eastern countries of Europe. Obviously during the dictatorial Soviet rule after World War II on them can have a point in this matter, and these words mean that the greater part of bands from the East side of Europe have a personal insight o Metal. Even SOLD, from Estonia, shows it on the EP "Empty Words".
The sextet uses a modern and heavy approach on their musical work, but it has a personal outfit. Sometimes it can sound like a mix of influences from EVANESCENCE, Finnish Heavy Metal, and even from Swedish Melodic Death Metal, but with a personal insight. So it sounds abrasive, hard as a rock, but accessible and melodic in the same time, in a charming and energetic form. But once more: their music shows personality, so everything sounds great. The band is in the right way.
The sound quality created for this four-song EP is the right one, but with a very good point: besides the band carries some extreme parts (as all Modern Metal bands carry as well), they evaded those excessively grease low tunes on guitars. And this tune gives the possibility of hearing (and understanding) their musical work clearly, and it's sounding fresh, new and alive.
Musically, they still have to sharp more the things on their work, but it's just a matter of time and experience. For now, the catchy mix of melodies and harsh voices shown on "Empty Words" (the feeling that comes from guitars' arrangements reminds the Swedish Melodic Death Metal school), the bitter aggressiveness shown laid on melodies heard on "Perverted Values" (with fine moments from bass guitar and drums), the full power of the modern and charming appeal of "I Feel No Pain" (very good chorus) and "A Man-Made Machine" are songs that reveal a new Metal potential from Estonia.
SOLD came in a great shape with "Empty Words", and the feeling from those who like their way of making music will ask for more as soon as they ending the first hearing on the songs.
