Domus Mysterium

The creative power of Metal is endless. To sit down and stay playing a simple formula that was already used and to say "we don't want to do anything new" is a serious offense against Metal forefathers. If you think in this way, sorry, but you have no place in the world, so stop, be just a fan and watch others playing. To be creative doesn't mean to create a new Metal genre, but to create your own musical way, like the Denmark's quartet SLÆGT shows on their second album, "Domus Mysterium".
It's a fine blend between Black Metal in the way of the SWOBM with traditional Heavy Metal melodies. Obviously, other bands use this same way, as the Swedish band BEWITCHED on their album "Diabolical Desecration". But the most important feature they have: personality. Yes, their work sounds different, like a fusion of melodies from bands like MERCYFUL FATE and the harsh moments of ones like DARKTHRONE and MAYHEM. The sound quality of "Domus Mysterium" is very good, aligned with the band's musical personality. It's raw and brutal as they need, but with a clean aesthetics that allows the fans to understand what the quartet is about, and it fits in an excellent way with their musical personality, as the artwork of the album does as well.
Somber, harsh and melodic, SLÆGT returns and really unleashed a good album, with eight excellent songs (besides "Succumb" and "Burning Feathers" are just melodic instrumentals). But you'll get excited and seduced by their work on songs like "I Smell Blood" (some filth Rock'n'Roll scent can be felt on the guitar riffs and solos), the somber and intense energy of "Egovore" (that shows a very good work from bass guitar and drums), the excellent melodic lines of "In the Eye of the Devil" (very good parts with female vocals, but the efforts of the band are almost all done on instrumental parts, without any male voice present), the mix between sinister tempos and aggressive parts shown on "The Tower", the brutal outfit of "Remember It's a Nightmare" (very good work from vocals and excellent tempo changes), and the excellent and long massacre of riffs of "Domus Mysterium".
Yes, they do an excellent work on "Domus Mysterium", but the better part is to know that they have an enormous musical potential that will be shown on the future, and I just can't wait to see/hear it!
