In Brazil, the evolution of Thrash Metal took some directions that can be seen as a result from the extreme Metal roots of our scene. In the beginning, the bands had a brutal aspect, something inherited from the fusion of Thrash Metal with Death Metal and Hardcore influences. This is the source of energy that bands as CHAKAL, DORSAL ATLÂNTICA, and many others had in the 80s. Now, as an heir from this same school, we have in hands "Dissolved", the second album from SKINLEPSY, from São Paulo.
Fast, brutal and aggressive, the band's musical style matured a lot since "Condemning the Empty Souls". Their musical insight of their own style became ample, allowing them to work better their arrangements. Their aggressiveness is still the same from before, but the good taste of some subjective melodic lines is present as well, making them go a step ahead from what we heard on their first album. Roberto Toledo produced, mixed and mastered the album at Studio 44, on São Paulo. He did a very good work, because the sound quality is dry, but heavy. What I mean: it's heavy and aggressive, but you'll understand all the musical instruments and arrangements without making great efforts.
Mature, aggressive and violent, the musical work from SKINLEPSY, done in a country where all difficulties are against you, and where the greater part of the Metalheads despise the bands from the country (yes, it is extremely common here to see such thing) is really excellent. "Dissolved" has as its best songs: "Perfect Plan" (a fast and aggressive song, with a massive collection of very good guitar riffs and solos), the excellent drums technique heard on the abrasive "The Mentor" (very good slow parts are presented on this one), the abrasive aggressiveness of "Ask to Diablo" (the vocals are really fine, using different tunes due the excellent rhythmic work of bass guitar and drums), the traditional Brazilian Thrash/Metal way of "Caustic Honor", the amazing hooking guitar riffs and solos of "Dissolved" an "Blood and Oil", and the oppressive and brutal melodic lines of "Murder".
It's a very good album, indeed, and maybe my foreign readers must demand from Europe and USA labels a release of "Dissolved", because you deserve it!
